  • I'd like to ask goalies . . .

how many carbs they eat daily. Also how much exercise they do on a regular basis. And can you please include height and weight if it is not in your siggy. (Demanding so and so, aren't I?)
I know we are all different but it will give the guys and gals who are losing an idea of how they can manage their food once that goal is finally reached.

Oh yes, same here! Inquiring minds want to know....
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

Carbs? Hmmm.... well nothing from CRAPFOODS .. (i.e. sugar)

I'd say roughly about 40 grams a day works for me. Those come in the form of complex carbs from vegetables, occasional fruits, and whole grain bread (rarely).

Exercise? GLAD YOU ASKED! That's one topic I LOVE TO TALK ABOUT!

I run 35-40 miles a week. I also do my crunches on the exercise ball, 110 a day. I have the Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells which I LOVE .. and I do a regular routine of upper body/arms with those. I am currently lifting 12.5 pounds in each dumbbell until muscle exhaustion 3 days a week. I also do some floor work (push ups, leg lifts, etc.) at least 3 days a week.

        Height 5'3
        Weight 98

Oh, and I still eat ALOT of fat .. I'd say I'm approximately 55% fat, 35% protein, 10% carbs (complex) per day.

        Hope that helps!

I consume in the neighborhood of 75-100 grams per day and exercise 3 times per week (cardio and weights). I'm 5' 11" and weigh between 180-183 lbs.

For example: Today, I had 2 eggs and an ounce of sharp cheddar cheese for breakfast, 6 chicken wings and small salad for lunch and a bowl of linquine in olive oil (with pieces of chicken/shrimp) for dinner. The pasta was a treat - we took our eldest daughter out for her birthday.

I eat anywhere from around 30 to 70 carbs a day, and it varies a lot day to day. I tend to be pretty carby on the weekends and lower during the week, which isn't great, but works for me. I can eat on the higher end of the 30-70 range when I'm exercising, and it drops back down if I'm not. When my carbs are higher, my calories tend to be lower, since I'm naturally eating less fat. So it all balances out in the end. Also, you didn't ask this question specifically, but I think this is important: I eat A LOT. I like big portions and I like not being hungry. I've been able to do that, even at goal.

For exercise, I'm currently working on lowering my body fat percentage, so I've gotten pretty fanatical. I'm exercising 6-7 days a week, but that includes days where all I do is stretch. I've gotten so used to it, that I can't imagine a day where I wouldn't do at least some stretching. I do a pretty strenuous mix of cardio and resistance training. I'll admit that for my first 2 years or so at goal weight, I did no exercise. BAD, BAD, BAD!

I'm 5'5" (although two doctors recently said 5'6", so I've either grown or started standing up straighter.) I weigh between 130 and 135 and I wear a size 4-6. Can't remember my exact measurements right now, but it's something like 35/28/36.

you are demanding but you are damn cute too so why not

I have only counted a few times because "counting" makes me neurotic ..well ..ok that is not far for me...
I go by proportion of food now and only eat what I need to be content that took a while to figure out btw...like a year!!!
about 45-80 carbs/day was one week at goal for me
I am so sorry to say I do not "work out" I ran until a few years back and just hit the wall ..gained wt and am here now .....but I am very phyiscally active
I stand at work instead of sit and fidget all day...I park a long distance from everything..I am remodeling a house and doing a full landscape ...I do not flop unless I am exhausted..even when I am online here I am usually in the kitchen making up recipes..although right now I am snuggled by the fire with my dog
I just keep moving of fidgiting and since I am hyper anyway that is not very hard for me to do ....
I also jump my husband whenever he lets me and that is helpful

Thank you!!! It really helps to hear that you can take it off, and KEEP it off!! That is one of my concerns, keeping it off. I never have been able to, but I think I gotta shot this time!!!
What would we do without it?

                Mini-goal- 149 by June 1st. I can do it!!!

Thanks, folks, this pretty much confirms what I'd thought from the Atkins for Life book. I can sure live with those ranges once I reach goal. And I have even now found that if I don't exercise I get twitchy and have to go do something, so to keep exercising will not be hard.

                    Re: I'd like to ask goalies . . .

The one thing I have determined is...I will never be done. Once I achieve something, I give myself a new challenge. It is a good idea to get into your mind set that you will never be able to eat the old way again. (I'm sure you do Odille, I'm just clarifying something for newbies that I finally came to terms with myself) And exercise? You should always be striving to push yourself a bit. Challenge your body to the extent of your capability (I understand that people have ailments which may prevent them from some forms of exercise) but no matter your ailment, there is always something that can be done. Exercise keeps your bones and muscles healthy. Just because you look good does not mean that your heart is healthy. It needs work! What am I doing writing a book? I'll move on with the question at hand I'm sorry I hijacked this thread!

                    Anyway Odille....forgive me.....
I eat lots of fruit and veggies during the day.......every morning I blend f/v
I think I probably eat 50-60 only in fruit and veggies. I dont care for bread anymore.
I did treat myself to 1 german cookie (all natural sweetened with maple/molasses and organic) I must tell you it was soooo good. But I work my butt off the next day.....

I really love fruit and I don't limit myself with things like apples/oranges/grapes/strawberries/blueberries
Make it a happy low carb life!

                      Re: I'd like to ask goalies . . .

I usually average about 20-40 a day (i have a journal in the journal stats that lists the foods in an average day) but have on occaision gone quite high, up to 80, when i was exercising regularily. I also find i need to watch my calories and carbs in maintenance. I had a bit of a struggle over the summer when i started eating too many high fat foods...bbq'd steaks and burgers...and not exercising.

I've recently started up my exercise routine again, I've realized that I will not stay at goal without it. It also lets me eat a bit more carby foods occaisionally without worrying so much.

Hey Lawyerchick - you say you eat "a lot" during the day. I'm curious, any idea how many calories you consume in an average day?

I don't use fitday, so don't know percentages. Just watch net carbs

                          Today's weight=118
                          Height=5'2

                          Today's menu

Breakfast-4 huge strawberries, 1/2 cup full fat yogurt, 1/4 lb hebrew national dog

Lunch-Romaine salad with 5 grape tomatoes, 1/4 cucumber, 2 celery stalks, 1/2 chicken breast marinaded and baked in Lc Italian dressing, sprinkling of shredded parm cheese, ranch dressing

Dinner-Fried Meatloaf (4 thin slices off the loaf), 1/2 cup mashed caulitators, large glass of caff free/sugar free iced tea.

Today's net carbs 25.3-which is low for me on maintenance.

(I ran out of other fruit, I usually have another serving with lunch. Was full and didn't want more strawberries).

I exercised for 1 hour. On and off jogging. Did 4 miles.

My daily intake is at about 90-110 carbohydrates per day - lots of veggies, nuts, and low-glycemic fruits. No starches. I do not count calories, fat, or restrict portions. As for my fitness regime, I walk around 4.2mph for cardio 30 minutes a day, 3 mornings per week. Also, I do one hour of full-body, light-weight resistance training 3 mornings per week. Before leaving for the gym for weights, I do the 10-minute Basic Ab Workout For Dummies DVD. Love it!

I credit my 13.92% body fat entirely to the above lifestyle, and I have been at goal since late 2001. Anybody can do it!
