Re: **African American Women** Are there any out there??!!

I just want to hop in and say welcome to you all.
I am not from african origines, not even American when it comes down to it although I live in Texas (like you Dee)
I like this thread, didn't know what NAPP was, and found out it is about natural styles of hair (if I am right)
I have dreadlocks since 7 years, love it to bits and there is a lot of people that react to that, maybe cause I am a whity with dreads and I noticed overhere in Texas those are pretty rare.........
Well enough blabber, don't want to hog the thread.
    Another time: WELCOME aboard y'all

YES, that forum is http://www.nappturality.com and it is WAY COOL. I have been a member there since March 2004. They have a locs section of the forum to help people with locs learn how to care for locs.

It is very nice to meet all the new posters!

Hello Healthy4Life, mjett37, and Soliwit! Congratulations to each of you on your successful weightlosses thus far!

Soliwit, where are you from? You mentioned that you are not American...just curious. Do you like Texas as much as I do? I've been here all my life, so it's all I know!

The others of you. Since many of you have been doing Atkins for longer than me, how would you say that the journey has been? Allie, has already shared, and I really appreciated her telling of her experiences (on her website). Have you had roadblocks, trying times, or have you found it a pure delight as I have thus far?

        Enjoy a wonderfully blessed day!

Its just hard at first, and yeah we can do it! My grandmother and mom have started cooking brown rice instead of white rice so sometimes I will eat that (Maintenance).

Mac salad-- sometimes I will make some using Dreamfields, but I would save that till you get further along. Where I am from, peas n rice is a big thing too (we have a big Caribbean influence). We call ours 'hoppin john' and it is freakin GOOD. I would eat black eye peas now on maintenance. Its black eye peas n rice cooked together.

We can still get our 'cultural' eat on even on Induction!

Hey Dee, I am originally from the Netherlands, I moved here last october due to looooove, hehe.
I met my now husband 6 years ago over the internet (both bored and checked some singles website and well, here we are, married and living in the deep south)
I love Texas to bits, we live right between Austin and San Antonio and we are right there where everybody goes for toobin', so no need for us to fly on some expensive holiday, hahahaaaa.
I still do have to get used to certain things, there is quite some small differences that you don't feel right away but all of a sudden creep up on you, if you get what I mean, just things people see or do different here you know.
One is also how people here react to my hair, in the Netherlands I am not really different, but here sometimes I am quite an 'atraction'
I have been on Atkins since a little over a year and I really love this WOE even though I had quite a long stretch where I didn't lose at all (no inches and no ounces) still I stuck to it cause I knew it would go on once I was settled down again (you can guess with moving continent it has been quite a bumpy year)
And yah, the energy is so great, it's even as if I not only lost weight but lost years of my age !!!!!
Big hug to everyone reading this.

Oh yah and Allie, I will go and check the forum out, quite interesting !!!
I am all for natural !!! (heh, my husband always calls me hippie btw *grin*)

why not start a thread in the 'buddies' forum so you can keep in touch?

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
