  • Liquid Splenda?

OK I've been perusing Linda's low carb recipes (great stuff) @

    http://users3.ev1.net/%7Efontlady/recipes.html

And 1/2 of her recipes call for liquid splenda. But I have never seen this on any shelf. I've seen liquid sweet & low, but its not so good tasting.

Anyone have any idea where this can be purchased?

Da Vinci syrups (I find them at Wal-mart and TJ Maxx) are a form of liquid splenda. The one in the recipes is probably found at www.sweetzfree.com I think that is about the only place liquid splenda can be purchased. It is super concentrated in that form. I think some people on the board have purchased it thru that company. I myself just use granular.

yeah unfortuantely sweetzfree only allows 1 order day per month or something. Its silly. I have seen the davinci syrups at walmart but I dont think there is an unflavored one? Do you know of this, possibly?

Yeah I have plenty of splenda packets (1000 from sams for $13 I think) but when cooking a recipe the carbs do add up significantly....

I knowwww... I wish they had an "unflavored" one, as you said, that they sold in grocery stores and superstores... would make things a heck of a lot easier. I always feel crummy about having to take in all that unneeded maltodextrin in packet Splenda.

Yeah, unfortunately they don't have an unflavored one as far as I know...I guess vanilla is about as neutral as you can get. Now, if you like stevia and don't taste the bitterness, there is a liquid stevia that you might like. Stevia is an herb. I've only seen it at the organic sections of grocery stores and health food/whole food stores.

I've ordered some stuff called Fiberfit http://www17.netrition.com/nutrageni...rfit_page.html, although I haven't tried it yet.

            From Netrition's web site:
Nutragenics Fiberfit Sweetened Soluble Fiber is an extremely low-carb liquid dietary supplement that adds back some of that missing fiber. It can easily be used in any cooking or baking recipes.

Fiberfit is perfect for low-carb dieters and diabetics. Because its caloric value comes from complex carbohydrates, Fiberfit has a minimal effect on blood sugar and insulin levels. One teaspoon of Fiberfit provides one full gram of fiber in liquid form.

A single teaspoon of Fiberfit has just 4 calories - approximately 1 gram of carbohydrates - from complex carbohydrate sources (the fiber itself). According to Dr. Atkins, carbohydrates from fiber have zero net impact on one's daily carbohydrate total. Though it was designed to be a fiber supplement, Fiberfit is sometimes called "Liquid Splenda" because it is sweetened with sucralose, a non-caloric, non-chemical, FDA-approved agent derived from real sugar. Each teaspoon of Fiberfit has the sweetness of approximately 8 teaspoons of sugar with no unpleasant aftertaste.
I order from this place often and they're great. The shipping is only $4.95, no matter how big your order is.

By the way, if you buy some Stevia, a little goes a long way. If you use too much it can cause whatever you're making to taste bitter.
              So, easy does it.

Do you think this stevia is available at whole foods markets?

We don't have a Whole Foods Market here, so I don't know. I bought mine either at a health food store or GNC or Vitamin World.

Yes, you should be able to find stevia at Whole Foods Market. Most, if not all, health food stores carry it as well as Trader Joes.

I never thought of using the Di Vinci syrups in place of liquid splenda in recipes. Thanks for the idea.

DaVinci does have an unflavoured syrup. They call it Simple syrup. You may have to ask the store manager to place an order for you.

Davinci's does make a simple syrup which might be useful as liquid splenda. I get all my davinci's from netrition.com.
