    Re: Liquid Splenda?

Nice, I'll have to make a trip to the whole foods and get some of this then. Thanks for the suggestion

      Re: Liquid Splenda?

I ordered from Sweetzfree earlier this month and am EXTREMELY happy! Her liquid sucralose is highly concentrated - one drop is the equivalent of 1.5 teaspoons of granular Splenda. I now carry a tiny 1 oz bottle in my laptop bag for those occasions when I want to have a cup of sweetened decaf with my colleagues. One drop does the trick. (It's mind-boggling, actually.)

DH is a cherry Kool-Aid fanatic and just started sweetening it with the Sweetzfree liquid sucralose. It's wonderful. I try to stick to plain water or green tea, and usually his granular Splenda-sweetened Kool-Aid tastes very -- hm, how to describe it, too tangy? Overly citric and slightly chalky? Bleh. But now it's sweet and smooth and tons better. He had planned to keep using up our granular Splenda instead of counting drops, but I don't think that'll happen now. Heehee.

You can't order Sweetzfree any old time, but the company owner (Diane) is wonderful about posting well in advance, so you know when you CAN order. Mark your calendar and take the moment to order some. It's really not that hard.

For me, still on extended induction - every carb counts. I'm very happy to reclaim a few Splenda carbs and replace them with some more yummy veggies!

And Netrition is a great site for getting DaVinci syrups - including the no-flavor Simple Syrup.

Ooooh, I didn't know about the simple syrup. The fiber sweetener sounds good, too. I am definitely going to check some of these out!

          Re: Liquid Splenda?

Cool. I guess if tastes even better with the liquid I'll try my best to order it on the 1st (next available order date). I made a cheesecake last night with sweet and low (sacharin) and it didn't come out so well. But I saved a ton of carbs in the thing by not using the splenda packets.

          Thanks for the rec kimberwolf!

            Re: Liquid Splenda?

In my opinion, it's really hard to use a liquid sweetener with a cheesecake. Splenda granular kinda works, but I've yet to make one that turned out *just* like the original (both consistency and taste-wise, though I'm not expecting miracles). Maybe adding something to thicken would help.

              Re: Liquid Splenda?

Someone with more cooking experience than I can chime in here, but I regularly see folks mention a need to find "synergy" by using multiple sweetener sources. For example, instead of using all Splenda (in whatever form), use part-Splenda and part-stevia. Supposedly that can help in terms of texture and flavor.

Exactly! I think things taste better if you use a mixture of different kinds of sweeteners. I do it all the time.
