I saw that and I found it to be a bit vague, did you stick to the 1000 calorie regimend for 2 weeks? Did you go to the modified fat fast after one week?
It still sounds to me like a good way to prime your body for induction even if you do it for only 4 days. I feel that you did it longer that what should have been attempted but I have no idea, thats why im asking.[/font]
Induction is the beginning, not the fat fast, Induction preps you for your continued weight loss, not the fat fast. The fat fast is only for those who really need it, not to be played with by someone who is losing weight too "slowly" to satisfy them. It is DANGEROUS if you do it without fitting the requirements. It is UNHEALTHY if you are not 100% positive that you fit into the group that needs it. No one should be encouraged to do it to prep for induction or to get out of a stall. If you need the fat fast, it will be obvious. It is not a stall breaker, and no one should be encouraged to try it for anything other than what it is meant for, period. You have to be metabolically resistant to such a level that you don't lose weight, period.

Try the 1,200-calorie regimen for a week, then go back to Induction.
So you see you can do the fat fast after an unsuccessful induction then PRIME your body by doing the fat fast and try induction again.
Obvisouly this thread should be locked so I can make a new thread. I want to talk to people that have attempted the fat fast. Not people telling me the same things over and over.
If you had a bad experiance with the fat fast I want to know what the circumstances were. How did they attempt it. Why is this so hard?

On second thought I am just going to read on usenet and see how they did with it. So thanks everyone who replied. I appriciate that its "Dangerous" and that while on it, people feel like crap. Thanks again for the input.

Matt what you quoted from DANDR is in the section for the high metabolically resistant folk who because of their metabolisms did not lose during induction.
it isn't for stall breaking and stalls are 4 full weeks of no pounds or inches lost.
You seem to be impatient to get to your goal and don't care the physiological costs.
on the fat fast you are in protein deficient levels so your body will pull the free pool amino acids from your organ stores and then your muscle stores for your protein needs. Most folk have a 2-3 day supply stored in the organs. If you are power lifting during this stage you will be in serious protein depleted state and could end up consuming your muscle tissues for fuel too. That is why the 30% protein intake on regular Atkins eating is so very important.
The reason most folk feel lousy is certain body cells that lack mitochondria such as red blood cells, parts of the retina and some areas of the brain have to have sugar as fuel.
So you see you can do the fat fast after an unsuccessful induction then PRIME your body by doing the fat fast and try induction again.

I say - go and do it and report back with your results.
I wasn't metabolically resitant and in the 2002 DADNR DR Atkins removed the fat fast as a stall breaking technique and moved it to chapter 20 as a modified fat fast for those metabolically challenged folk. I wished it was an option back in summer 2003 when i was in the middle of my 13 week stall. I have had days eating under 1000 cals thought because i wasn't hungry in both induction and OWL.
I don't know if you can find it but theior was a teen who was determined cause she knew her body and was stubborn who did it and reported about it in a toopic. after about 5 days she was estatic she had lost a bunch of pounds and was going to move to the modified fast. she then gained a few pounds and was frustrated. She left ADBB so I can't tell you if she succeeded or not.
There was one former ADBB member (2Big might remember her because she used to post on an ADBB splinter board.) She was metabolically resistant due to her thyroid disease and although she worked with her doctor to adjust her thyroid medications, she was still had a high metabolic resistance. So she used the Fat Fast every month: Fat Fast for 3 -4 days, then back on Induction. Even with that her weight loss was slow, maybe a pound or two every month. In her case, Fat Fast is a viable option due to her extreme metabolic resistance to weight loss.
