Re: The Fat Fast- I'm worried

She stopped saying that she's hungry! Whew, maybe she wasn't before, whatever it was at least it's gone. She drank 100 ounces of water today (I drink about seventy usually, sometimes more) and did the five meals. I have to confess I haven't looked at specfic atkins pills. We're taking the centrum multivitamin (the type without asparteme), I'm going to read that section now.

I am curious...did your friend end up losing weight on the fat fast? did she gain it all back when it was over?

Re: The Fat Fast- I'm worried

actually I lost 70 lbs total. 20 from the fat fast. I only gained 4 lbs back. I think that is just food in the gut, You dont eat much on the fat fast. You must maintain some disipline in what you eat and excersise afterwards. you don't have to go crazy but you should at least walk 3-4 times a week and not go back to soda and chips and super high carb foods. the main point is to balance your body. Also know i only did the fat fast after i tried all other options and failed for two months. This really should be the last resort and done under docters supervision. the fat fast can severly mess up your metabolism if you are not weight loss resistant. It might take months to straiten it out again and weight loss may be almost imposible afterwards. your body does not like extrems. good luck

I'm having the same issue. I've been on the diet "again" since March 8 and have not lost an ounce or an inch. I've tried the fat fast as well. I drink the 85oz/water usually in the form of the flavored water from walmart.... Splenda Only added. I'm beginning to wonder if I've been on and off the diet too many times for it to work for me anymore.

Just a thought - could it be the splenda flavored water you are drinking that is stalling you. The limit for sweetners is 3 packs a day. It would seem if that is all you are drinking you are getting a lot more splenda then is allowed? Why not try plain water for a few days and see if that helps.

Re: The Fat Fast- I'm worried

I am willing to try it - as I've read on the boards, the plain water seems to be a tough one for a lot of people. Me included! Do you know anything about Peanut Butter? Sometimes I'll eat 5 or 6 spoonfuls of it right out of the jar in place of a meal if I'm hungry.
Thanks so much for your advice!

Re: The Fat Fast- I'm worried

The water is a tough one for me also. I do find that if I drink it at room temperature I can tolerate it better than cold. I have a 16.9 ounce bottle that I refill all day from a gallon jug. I make sure to drink 6 bottles which puts you above 100 ounces.

As far as the peanut butter, can't help you there (not a peanut butter person).
Why not start a new post and you will get an answer much quicker. Post under 14 day inductions.

More great advice! Thanks so much, I think if you would not have replied, I would have gotten in my car and gone to Bruster's for Birthday Cake Ice Cream and stopped at Pizza Hut on the way home.
                  thanks!

Oh! Surpried people were still posting on here ^_^;;; sorry for my delayed reply. It worked out fine for my friend. She lost 6 pounds and followed with the post diet provided. When she went back to induction finally she gained one pound back initially, but now she's finally losing weight like the rest of us!

Glad it worked out for her Pineapple. Think sometimes we just need to change it up to make the breakthrough.

Re: The Fat Fast- I'm worried

yep slenda is decieving. if you are weight loss resistant it is a no no. i to had the same effect with those drinks, plain water is hard but needed. also try L-carnitine. Dr. atkins said some need it. I tried it and ended up takeing 3000mg a day to help weight loss. if i don't i even gain on induction. start with 500mg once a day and increase every week by 500mg till u notice the weight start to move. spread out your intake like 500 in the morning and 500 for lunch and 500 for dinner. I take the last on before i go to sleep. boy it works good for me. As for the fat fast it works but its tough. I found that it was more important to eat a high fat diet than to eat a high fat diet at 1000 cal. I ate as much as 2000 cal and still lost, but that was me. good luck!

That amount of peanut butter would be a reason for not losing weight I would imagine!!
On induction peanuts are not allowed - as a legume peanuts are introduced back into menus once you are at the OWL level (rung).

It sounds to me as if you are not quite sure what foods are allowed, so why not post a few days menus in the 'Review my menu' forum, or post a link to your fitday account if you have one, so people can give you some advice on whether you are eating 'legal'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

To elizellen and bmeade8: thanks so much for your advice - I'm definitely going to try the L-Carnitine and ugh....plain water. After your posts last night, I read the book again and the companion Carb gram counter. Aspartame slowing you down is something I didn't remember from my first time reading. I've been putting Splenda on EVERYTHING, roast beef, chicken in my eggs.... the hardest part of Atkins for me was the lack of "sweet" and splenda helped me to stick to the diet. Or so I thought anyway. These boards are so supportive thank you for your help. I'm going to tweak my diet a little and give Atkins at least another couple of weeks. Fingers crossed!
