A lot of bacon in stores and supermarkets is cured.

Go to a butcher or the deli counter at a supermarket and getting a few slices of bacon straight from the cut

You're in Ontario right? You can find bacon without sugar anywhere. I get the no-name brand at Loblaws or the Independent. Check the brands that aren't big names.

Look for the lower sodium kind, that is usually sugar free (the lower sodium is good for you, too). How are you doing, Diva??
What would we do without it?

              Re: BAcon and Sugar

Be careful, sugar or not, I found that for me bacon was a big stall food. It has definately gone onto the "for the future as a treat only" list.

still have a few more pounds to go!!

I don't think a couple of slices of bacon a day would do any harm...now a full lb of it like my husband did the other day...well that's just crazy!

If a pound of bacon lists sugar, it most likey lists carbs. Count them when you eat it; s-o-o-o-o good! Drink extra water to flush the Na+ and don't eat the whole thing - crumble it into/onto your meals. mmm!

Ok, I just got back from Sobey's. There are two brands of bacon there with 0 carbs and 0 sugar.

                      Schneider's naturally smoked bacon

And Sobey's brand called Compliments. Check for Compliment's Naturally smoked bacon.

hi, funny you mentioned the bacon and sugar - the other day I was looking at the bacon contents and two of them had sugar in them, but don't worry I'm in Spain......

But I find myself checking all the carbs. on things, and I'm a newbie , as they say, anyway I'm sure the folks in the usa will be looking out for the sugar-free brands you mentioned ,

Wannabethin, I think if you check the ingredients sugar is listed with the schneiders brand, check and let me know.
All bacon says no carbs but if you read the contents, sugar is usually found.

No, both said 0 carbs and 0 sugar. Some schneider's bacon does have sugar because they have many different kinds. Check for the regular naturally smoked kind. I have the Compliments brand right here in my hand and it's also 0 carbs and 0 sugar.
