My good news is that I finally reached a 15 lb. loss, Yay!

My bad news is it took 10 1/2 weeks to do it. I lost 4 during in the initial induction 2 weeks and 11 since then. I look and see people who started at the same time who have lost 20-30 lbs.. Why can't I be one of these people? Guess I lost my golden shot in my first go round of Atkins. Hurricane Katrina hit, displaced me and threw my way of eating and exercising. Oh well, back on the horse I guess.

1.5 pounds per week is great. Most experts say you should lose 1-2 pounds per week anyway.

Oh honey!!! Look at it this way - you are over ONE THIRD through your weight loss!!! ONE-THIRD is gone!! That is excellent!

Sometimes it takes a little longer, sometimes you hit a plateau, sometimes you get a whoosie. Be patient. It took you a while to gain the weight; it will take a while to lose it (hopefully a lot LESS time!). Be patient. Breathe. Take a walk. Make sure you are drinking enough water. Post your menus for the fabulous folks here to assess. Exercise!

Just remember - ONE-THIRD of the way to goal! Woo-hoo!

Big love and keep up the good work,

As the self appointed math police on this board it goes as follows. You lost 1.43lbs per week. At that pace over 52 weeks in a year you would lose 74.36 lbs. Now of course you do not have that much to lose, but it puts your current loss into perspective.

"1.5 pounds per week is great. Most experts say you should lose 1-2 pounds per week anyway."

Keeping under 20 carbs I thought it should be more. If this is what I lose now what happens when I add more carbs in?

          Staziaw,

Okay good way to look at it.

Awesome, actually the 140 should be a mini goal, by height rates I should be about 115 so that is actually 68 lbs. I needed to drop so its close to you your ratios. My thanks to the math police.

Thanks yall, you make me feel better about the situation. I feel like I am doing the most that I can do to get there. Its slow but its going!

I'd bet the people you see losing faster than you most likely have alot more to lose. You're losing at a healthy pace. Dont forget you didn't put it on overnight, it won't come off overnight either.

Most of us find our losses continue in OWL!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

you are loosing at about the rate I lost ..and mine is gone forever ...yours will be too at this rate you are loosing fat not water and that my dear is a wonderful thing

ps some may disagree but I think the "golden shot" is a bunch of crap...you will loose wt at the rate you will loose wt and the idea of a "golden shot" being a one time deal is a defeatist attitude IMHO!!! You have as many shots at this as you need to get it right and have it last!!!!

Interesting thing is I have seen alot of people in your situation actually lose more when they start up the rungs of OWL. Read the foods you will be adding back in! Especially the more vegies rung! None of us here (I would venture to bet) gained weight adding in more vegies!!!

I agree that I do not believe in a golden shot...what we have is today and now and you ARE losing TODAY and making moves toward your goal!!!

I am also not losing as fast as I would like...BUT this isn't a DIET that I'm going to stop when I "get there" or "get done" so if it takes a few weeks or months longer then does it really make that much differnce in a journey that will be lifetime long?

I hope to have a nice skinny tummy like Hedi and a banner that says over a year at goal someday....I like it the sooner the better but increasing my carbs to above 20 and working OWL prepares for lifetime mainatance and decreases boredom

Don't be afraid of OWL, you will keep losing I promise. I find OWL much easier and more enjoyable than Induction. OWL is the key part of this WOL, it gives you the tools to keep the weight off long term, and that is what we all want!! 15 pounds is great, good for you!
What would we do without it?

                      Mini-goal- 149 by June 1st. I can do it!!!

The slower it comes off the better it is, as there is more chance of it staying off that way.

I lost 50 lbs in 5 months and then was absolutely stuck at a plateau for 9 months!!! I came here sobbing because I thought the fact I had to start BP meds is what stalled my progress. (I think it did.) Then I read about drinking more water. I faithfully drank 96 oz daily, and finally, without any other changes, the scale has started to move downward again. I am at my last 15 lbs to lose, and I know those will be the toughest. Slow but steady wins the race!!
