it's probably a personal thing again, what works for you might not work for others. One of my easy lunches during the week will be 2 hotdogs and a can of green beans, i can grab it and go, it's kind of been a joke for the people i work with....

Oh no! That just stinks! Corn syrup in hot dogs? I got some hot dogs (ingredients were ok) but they are so incredibly SALTY that I can't eat them. Bought them in bulk too

Hubby eats them straight out of the package, like they are mozzerella sticks...yuck

Re: I learned a good lesson.

That reminds me, I'm in Minnesota and we recently got a Rainbow Foods in our neighborhood. They make fresh sausages. They use real meat with no fillers in making them. The varieties they come up with are fantastic. They regularly have chicken with feta and spinach sausages, brats with onions and cheese, and the latest was corned beef with sour kraut and swiss cheese. The butcher thinks I've lost my mind because I tell him I'm there to stock up on diet food and then order a couple of pounds of each kind.

Oh as for the original post, it could be the sugar, or it might have been something else. Each person is effected by differently by things in their diet. My DH and my BIL are both type II diabetics. My BIL can't eat dairy without spiking his blood sugar. My DH can't eat fruit without spiking his. No diet is one size fits all. You have to figure out what effects you personally. If you decide it's one food or one ingredient without testing to see what happens if you eat it again, you can give yourself a superstition about foods that might be fine for you.
