Re: Question for those who weigh more often

Oh my god, I don't think I could handle it if I weighed more than once a week. If I saw the number go up, I KNOW I would be upset and feel derailed. I weigh once a week, like clockwork, every Wednesday morning. If I didn't have the slow, steady shrinking number to rely on, I'd go mad.

I don't know how you do it, weighing daily (or even more often!) Seems like a very self-torturing thing to do.
Female / Currently on Extended Induction (again), begun 6/2/08.

I did Extended Induction from 1/3 to 5/9 (2006) and lost 55 pounds, so I know I can do it again!

Re: Question for those who weigh more often

I weigh every day but I don't freak out if I'm up a pound or two....or three during TOM
But, it does tell me that I need more water that day. Usually it doesn't move unless TOM or if I ate something that makes me retain water....

I weigh in every morning right after urinating. Sometimes it up, most often its down. I find it helpful to see what causes the changes, like salt intake or exercise from the previous day.

I weigh in every morning as well. I record it in fitday as well. I dont get overly emotional over the number, I put more value in how I'm feeling and how my clothing fits. Mostly the number is just a curiosity, occasionally it's a reminder to drink extra water, especially if I snacked on something salty the day before.

Big Bad John, I'm sooo right there with you, if not worse. I didn't own a scale durning induction (Thank GOD) but went to the store every few days to check my weight. But now that I have one in the bathroom I find myself checking it almost every time I walk past the bathroom. I have slowed down a little, now I only check after going potty ROFL. I CAN'T RESIST!!! And to make matters worse, I am at a stall right now and can't figer out why, stuck between 260-264. Up and Down.......... GRRRRRRR........ I think I am going to have hubby hide the MONSTER aka SCALE from me for a week to see if that helps me.

Re: Question for those who weigh more often

First, I would NEVER look a gift 5 lb horse in the mouth! 5 lbs ain't hay, baby! Take it!!

Second, I am a daily weigher. If I drop below an all time low, I count it, no matter what day it is. If the scale bounces up a half pound or pound the next day, I don't let it bother me. I know it is just something extra in my guts that will be gone soon enough, just keep on trucking. I also only weigh in the morning before breakfast and after my morning constitional, stripped down nekkid.( I also always suck in my stomach when I weigh! Like it makes a difference!! Does any one else do this silliness? ) Some mornings I may forget. If I have been bad, I don't bother. If I go a little while being bad I weigh and see what damage is done. Kick myself in the booty and get back on the wagon.

I had a 2 lb whooshie over the last 48 hours. You can bet your thinning hiney, I counted it! I changed every signature I have on every board I haunt. A loss is a loss is a loss. Of course, a gain is a gain... but not nearly so exciting!

5 lbs is a large bag of sugar. Pick one up the next time you at the grocery and then decide if that heavy sack of evil is heavy enough to count!

You are doing awesome, by the way, the transformation you are making is fantastic!!

Ha! Kate! Funny! I hold my boobs out of the way to see the numbers. Eventually they will hang out of the way on their own. I will be wearing a bra thats a 38/Long.

Re: Question for those who weigh more often

I weigh every morning and record that weight. So far it hasn't caused an issue with me and I rarely wake up the next morning higher than the previous morning. As long as I remember that I shouldn't be bothered by a little gain I enjoy weighing in daily. I like to know exactly where I stand!

Re: Question for those who weigh more often

I get so obsessed with the scales that I only weigh once a month. When I
would gain any it would upset me for days....needless to say I have never
let myself get over 25 pounds of my high school weight---but 25 pounds
was a killer for me mentally. I just keep gaining and loosing the same 10-20
                            pounds....bummer!
                            Anyone else like this?

Re: Question for those who weigh more often

I have read somewhere that it has been reported in some study that people who weigh themselves daily have a higher rate of keeping the weight off over a long period of time. I personally weigh myself everyday. I don't report the weighin unless the scale stays the same or goes down after 3 days. I think that it makes it easier for me to understand my body. I gain weight during certain times of the month. Also since I do write down the food I intake, I get a better idea of which foods are helping my goals and which are hurting. It is a personal choice, as long as you stay motivated, it doesn't matter if you weigh in every day, week, or month.
