    I totally agree.


    Why would would I want a baked potato and breaded chicken fingers when I could have a big plate of seasoned cabbage sauted in butter and a nice steak?
    No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

      Heck, I'm lucky if I can get to my 20 a day.

      I'm still on extended induction, mostly because I'm lazy. A couple of eggs for breakfast, salad for lunch, salad for my second break, and (choose one) a.)browned hamburger meat b.) a couple of bunless hotdogs and string cheese c.) brocolli and melted cheese. On the weekends, I go a little crazy on the splenda soda and lack of veggies. It's really the only time I eat anything other than my boring old salads. I swear, I'm getting sick of those things. I need to spice them up.

      But normally, I stick anywhere between 5-15 carbs, and normally between 700-1000 calories.

      But, I do love it when I go out, and crave something I can't have, and order a steak, and have the person I envy, envying my plate. I guess its "the grass is always greener" kind of thing...

        The trick to getting your carbs in is to eat the higher carb foods. For example, this morning for breakfast, I had toast (5 net carbs) with a 1/4 cup mashed black beans (about 5.5 net carbs) mixed with 1 tablespoon ricotta cheese (2 net carbs for the brand I eat). So that's about 12.5 net carbs for my breakfast alone. I still have about 37 net carbs to spend today. Between the apple, walnut and carrot salad for lunch and my artichoke-spinach side dish and gazpacho for tonight's dinner, I'll be awfully close to that my CCLL.

          Well, mystery, it seems to me your intake is fine for you, your height and weight look pretty Ok and you say you've been eating this way for a few years. My partner rarely eats before dinner time and he works in a hard physical job from 0330 to 1100 in the morning! It works for you, so just keep doing what you are doing.

          (I'd get too hungry, need my 3 'eats' a day!)

            My roommate is a "warrior diet" person, without needing to lose weight. He eats one meal a day, usually quite nutritious, and is rarely hungry. Of course, he is a string bean, really tall and thin. Now, that works fine for him, but . . .

            Part of the deal with making sure that you don't more than 6 waking hours without food on the Atkins plan is to keep the furnace running, the body burning fat, the blood sugar levels not dropping off the face of the planet and then finding yourself face down in a chocolate cake! Whew, that was a run-on sentence!!

            If you don't need to lose weight, but want to eat healthy, Atkins Maintenance program is really just so excellent. Whole food, no processed or fast food junk . . . good good good.

              most days around 60-100 but a few days a month 100-200

              I guess ..this is not exact science to me ...

              calories anywhere from 1600-2600 depending on the day ....

              I actually count nothing ....just did it for a week one time to see where I was so I could spout this knowledge ..so there you have it

                Yeah, I agree, Heidi... having to count stinks... every day, it gets easier to make better choices without running the numbers. I think that's what my ultimate goal is: to be carb "conscious" rather than a carb "counter."

                But in the beginning, I think it's super-important to learn some numbers to guide choices, even if you have to measure to get accurate amounts. So this thread is pretty interesting... everyone's different, I know, but you start to see certain trends develop, as Labarum was saying...

                It feels awesome for me to be free of calorie counting though. And to be mellowing out (but still quite conscious) in my carb counting.

                  eat until content that is the most important and the hardest battle I think ....there is a point where you have to say numbers are not important my satiety needs to be the clue ...that is not easy for me even after all this time but it is a priorty in my constant effort to learn
