  • Question About Total Calories????

How do I find out what my calorie intake should be at fitday.com? I know it should be between the BMR and AMR, but where do I find this information at? I just want to make sure I am not eating too many calories. I stay between 1200 and 2000 most of the time, but some days I do eat alot less if I am really busy. Also, some days I am just not as hungry. However, today I have eaten quite alot. I actually went over 2000. However, this is the first time I've done that on Induction.

Also, just to let you know, I am at the end of my 3rd day on Induction. This is my 3rd re-start and I entend on doing this correct this time. And, in 14 days moving to OWL. I think the reason I am eating more is b/c I have been making new Induction Friendly Foods and recipes, but I am not eating until I am stuffed. I do understand the rules.

Anyway, sorry to be so wordy......But just wondering about the calorie intake?

http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6764 This tells you how to find your BMR but personally I would not worry about calorie counting while your on induction, at least the first two week. Thats the beauty of this plan, not counting calories. Will you have to at some point, maybe..... but enjoy the food and don't worry about the counts.

if you are feeding your hunger and stopping when you satisfy your hunger then that is the amouint of calories your body needed that day. We don't have any limit number nds our total intake will change daily as we feed the hunger.

I have read the info. at the thread regarding BMR, but still am not quite sure how to get this number. I also have looked at FITDAY and still don't get it. I promise I am not an "IDIOT", but can someone possibly help. I know it isn't really important to count calories, but I still would like to know what this number is for me, personally!

              Thanks for any additional help!

On your fitday account click on the tab at the side called 'Reports'
then click on the one called 'Calories burned' and you will see a piechart and some numbers showing 'Average Calories burned'
In that table you will see a total of three sections which will tell you your estimated calories used for
Basal (how many calories just to live and breathe etc) worked out from your weight I think.
Lifestyle (how many calories to carry out your daily activities) worked out from whatever level of daily activity you have entered - sedentary, manual labour etc.
Activities (burned by doing extra stuff like exercising etc) again worked out by what exercising you enter.

There are also many websites which work out a notional BMR for you if you enter your height/gender/weight.

BUT all of these sites are only taking an average sort of number, I think the only way to get an exact number tailored to your body would be to have it calculated by measuring in a laboratory exactly how many calories your body uses up doing certain exercises.

                hope this helps
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Okay, one more question! Sorry... If my basal is 1,409 do I need to eat less than 1,409 calories or do I add the basal and lifestyle together. If I add the basal and lifestyle together I get 2,606. I want to know what the max calories I can eat in order to lose weight. So, do I stay below 1,409 or 2,606? I was averaging around 2000 -2200 calories, but as of yesterday I am going to average around 1,500, but if it needs to be less than 1,409 I want to know. I hope I am not being too confusing or making this more difficult than it is. I know this WOE is not complicated. The reason for my concern is that I just started OWL Rung 1 and I don't want to EAT too many calories. This would result in a big stall or weight gain. I know we aren't supposed to COUNT calories, but CALORIES do COUNT!

                        Re: Question About Total Calories????

Basal is if you laid in bed all day. Basal and Lifestyle is TOTAL burned.

Go to freedieting.com. On the left-hand side there is a "calculator" link. Click it and then click "Calorie counter".

This is the what I use. Enter your personal info and activity level.

Hope this is what you were looking for!!

Okay so if basal and lifestyle is 2606 per day then if I eat around 1500 per day this is a good thing. I will be losing plus not to mention the calories I burn from exercise, right? I definitely don't lay in bed all day. Although sometimes that sound really nice.

if and only if that basal is correct for your body. if you notice it doesn't know if you are a rock hard body or a puffy fluffy marshmellow. the Katch McArdle uses lean body mass to calculate a more accurate one but you have to know your lean body mass to figure it out.

In theory, yes. But 2600 seems to be high unless you including your excersice in that. That's just my opinion though

I just don't know how to incorperate low carb, and what seems to be, low calorie.

Your 1500 calories is right about were I am. I am truely in the same boat.
If I eat 20g carbs, it's about 1500 calories. but it just seems low to me

                              AGGHHHHH!!!
