    Re: Question About Total Calories????

Okay, then I will aim for 1100 to 1400 and try that for the next 2 weeks. Originally, I ate around 1200 per day, anyway. I think I will be better off staying with my plan of not exceeding 1500 per day.

Thanks again for your time and your responses! I just REALLY like food and I didn't want to jeopardize the success I have had thus far.

remember too those cals are based on high carb eating were only 4% of your eatten cals are used to metabolize them. fats have a 275% increase in cals from the food used for just metabolizing. That is what Dr Atkins cals the metabolic advantage so if you eat at their number know your basakl is actually higher eating Atkins not high carb.

        Re: Question About Total Calories????

I truly feel like an idiot! I have been consuming too many calories. This is why I was only able to drop 2 lbs. over the course of 2 weeks. I need to be eating less than 1500 calories per day. I will definitely be paying more attention to my feelings of satisfaction when eating instead of eating everything on my plate.

Thanks 2big for all your advice and support.

Thanks Rae-Marie for the link to freedieting.com. I found so many helpful tools there as far as burning calories. I love all those little tools and tips. Really neat site.

Gosh, I feel really stupid. It is just commen sense here.

          Re: Question About Total Calories????

Kelly, I totally disagree with what that site told me, and so do my numbers. I have lost about 25 lbs in 3 months and RARELY go below 2000 calories/day, and they say just to maintain I need to be at 1900! I Walk Away the Pounds 5 times a week and have 2 kids and a desk job, it's not like I'm a super exerciser.

Get in to ketosis, eat to satisfy your hunger, drink your water and move your body, and the plan works.

2 lbs in 2 weeks is perfect by the way. You are learning to eat the way you will eat the rest of your life. Some weeks will be higher numbers, some higher inches, some not at all! But you will get there.
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

I agree with msnicksmom, a loss of average one pound a week is a really good one when overall you had 40 pounds to lose.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Okay thanks ya'll! For some reason, my brain has gotten consumed with calories. I will just continue to eat on plan and not worry too much. I do feel great. And, I was able to even drop an inch on body parts. So I will just be patient and not worry!

Hi BellaCarol! I know it isn't complicated;I have just made it complicated over the last couple of days. I will take all the advice I can get. It really helps. I know ya'll are right on the money. I have moved to OWL Rung 1, so, I am not on induction any longer maybe this is why I have gotten so consumed with calories and numbers. I don't know, but I choose not to make such a big deal about it. And, like 2big says, I will feed my hunger ONLY!

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it!

                        Re: Question About Total Calories????

I just looked back on my Boot camp re-induction and I noticed that I started out eating more calories at the start and then as my body settled into Induction I ate less and less. I average about 1500-2000 per day but I really don't worry about it. I'm losing weight *and* inches. I have only lost 10 lbs in two months, but I also lost over 17 inches in that same timeframe.

AFAIC, 1-2 lbs per week is just about perfect for those of us who do not have a lot to lose. Especially when you are exercising a lot. Did you measure? If not, go to www.mybodycomp.com and start entering your measurements.

BTW, I see that you already lost 20 lbs in 2 months, with only 15 lbs more to go to your goal. Excuse me for being nosy, but why are you in Induction again? You should be climbing the OWL ladder to learn how to eat in the real world and not in the Induction-limited world. IMO as long as you are currently in ketosis you should go ahead and go to OWL. Re-doing Induction again and again to "boost" your weight loss with do you more harm than good.

so what induction veggie are you adding more of as your new 5 net carbs today? if you find you have trouble eating all the new carbs you can sause some of your veggies like roasted peppers or a tomatoe basil sauce and eat your veggies that way. don't go the lettuce route cause it takes a bunch of cups to get 5 net carbs of lettuce to add in.

Hi Robinb! Yes, I have measured and I continue to lose inches. Also, FYI, I am not in the Induction Phase and longer. I have moved to OWL and I am currently on Rung 1. I am going to do each rung for 4 weeks. I figure this gives me enough time to figure out if there is a problem or not. Oh, and by the way, you are not being nosy and if you were I wouldn't mind! Thanks for your help!

2big, the induction veggie that I have added today is pumkin. I eat 1 cup of spinach with breakfast, lunch and dinner, usually. I added pumkin and 1/2 cup of cooked broccoli with my lunch today. Yes, I have read all the stickys regarding OWL and realize it is better to eat higher carb veggies and cook them than it is to eat them raw. I will look into the different veggie sauces I can make. That really sounds good. Thanks for your time.

I'm glad you moved on . It's the inches are are amazing me. Not the pounds.

FWIW, I spent only a week on Rung 1. I was pretty much fed-up with Induction foods and I needed to eat other things. Many people cheat on extended Induction because they get bored and I knew I would be one of them, LOL! Keep that in mind if Rung 1 gets too ho-hum for you.
