    I did, I actually deep fried my chicken although it was without the skin as I do not like skin or fatty meats. I also do not like mayo or sour cream I love cheese but I was looking for an alternative to cheese.

      I use olive oil. 1 tablespoon of oil as a salad dressing is enough to make your meal about 50% fat. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to eat vats of mayo or dairy barns full of butter. It takes only about a tablespoon of added fat per meal.

      Editing to add...

      Don't believe that deep frying adds fat myth. Most deep fried foods retain oil because they are coated in flour or breadcrumbs that absorb the oil. This is especially true if the oil is not hot enough during the frying.

        You are probably right about the deep frying! to balance things outI will have a spoonful of cream, or olive oil with meals

          Daphne, you can make a really good alfredo type sauce with boneless skinless chicken breast and a veggie like broccoli.

          Add a little butter in a pan, sprinkle with parmesean cheese, pour in some cream (a little of each of these goes a long way) it will thicken pretty quickly.

          Great way to add fat.

            Whoever said that for us wanting to lose about 20 pounds will lose only 1-2 pounds per week, that is crazy. I started atkins cuz of the fast results, people saying they lost 5 pounds per week. As per 1-2 pounds per week one can just lower the calorie intake 200 less of their supposed daily and exercise 5 times a week 30 min, while still eating all types of fave foods in moderation. I want faster results that's why I'm stuck with eating veggie turkey, cheese and veggies all day

              If you exercise you can lose at that rate

                You can't be barely in ketosis, either you are or you are not. It is like being pregnant.

                  youa re right, I am in ketosis it is often a light pink coz I drink 140-175 ounces of water a day. Diluting ketones

                  Again I point out while I am loosing inches, I bough t a tape measure on Sunday 3 days ago and since then I have lost 2inches from my waist hips and bust but nothing on the scales at all. Loliloli how are you getting on?

                    Daphne if you do a lot of weights you probably wont see that scale go down, maybe you can do some more cardio instead of weights?
                    Why do you drink so much water? I drink around 128 fl oz because I am so thisrty due to the ketosis.
                    You lost 2 inches, no need to panic...

                      I am doing okay I think. I didn't read the book, I just started atkins from random things I heard before and reading the forum so I wasted first few days eating nuts at the time as well. Though I was still in ketosis, just pink though. Now I'm in the purple. I think I lost about 5 pounds but as I said i started randomly so I'm not even sure what my start weight was, weirdly enough. I don't feel any "size" change, pretty sure it's all just water loss. It's been about 4 days of "real induction" so I'm waiting for real resutls.

                      I'm a vegetarian though so this is difficult, especially since I'm a bad cook. I keep eating the same foods over and over, I'm doomed to get sick of them. We'll see I guess.

                        Great stuff 5 pounds is great. Yes I do drink a lot of water the more you drink, the more fat you are able to flush out1 and now I actually get quite thirsty.


                        It is day 14 of induction and I have actually gained one pound!!!! (this must be a consequence of doing very heavy weight training 4 times a week!!) I still seem to be loosing inches My skin and my figure have greatly improved biggest change has been in my waistline now sporting "28 inch waist and missing what used to be the beginining of love handles which I am really happy with.

                        I have decided to do an extended induction and cut all dairy completely and get fat from olive oil only. I have decided to eat now only when I am hungry and watch portions and do cardio for the next 2 weeks. Next week is half term week and my cousin is visiting as I have childcare I will just go to the gym everyday for the week and do just cardio and see if I can move that scale!!!!

                        Thanks for all the input and advice it has been really helpful.

                          i didnt know water makes you loose weight . i dont drink any water , only 2-3 glasses maybe thats why my weight is not dropping! is that true ?

                          After 1st week and 2 days - 132.

                          After 3 weeks - 130

                          MY GOAL WEIGHT - 120
