I don't know what it is but am in a bit of a funk.

Have done really well with induction - lost 10lbs in 9days with no real effort so pleased about that. Haven't lost any in the last 5 days even though I have been more active, but am feeling more hungry now and as a result I feel like I am overeating in the evenings - I am not eating anything that is not allowed but I feel like I might be eating too much of it: for example, I had Austrian Smoked Paprika chicken from an atkins recipe and ended up eating until I felt pretty full. Keto strips pretty much immediately went from purple to light pink. Today I had an atkins fish chowder but had maybe two and a half portions and now feel really cr*ppy and guilty (keto's on pink again) - feel like I had too much cream maybe?
I also feel really tired and run down despite sleeping pretty well and drinking loads of water (100oz a day at least).

I don't suppose it helps that the scales are a bit ancient and wave around a bit sometimes even adding lbs on (I try not to weigh everyday, but it was day 14 today). I know the measurements haven't really changed over the last few days, so am trying to do sit ups but don't know whether I am just having a late onset induction flu or am coming down with something, or maybe something has slipped in there that shouldn't be and is affecting me, but I just feel quite down and grumpy and is not even TOM.

Sorry for the self pity but thought I should share instead of doing the usual and just assuming the worst and stewing about it.

      Re: not feeling right

A few weeks after I started I remember feeling really hungry and tired... I felt soooo snacky like I just couldn't get enough. I made do w/ sugar free jello suffered through it, then before I knew it, it had passed and I was back to normal. I also notice just before I have a whooshie my appetite will pick up a bit... good luck, I'm sure it'll pass!

Congratulations on that extra pound gone!!
Now that you have completed your 14 days are you planning on moving up into OWL and starting to add your extra net 5 carbs of veggies?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Congrats on your loss! What an awesome accomplishment.

If your induction is over--perhaps you should move on to the first rung of OWL? Hunger pangs can be yuckky. I hate them. They would normally make me eat everything not nailed down.

There is no solid advice I can give you on trying to overcome them--BUT these are some things I've tried in those weak moments of desperation, you could try brushing your teeth, getting out of the house for a walk, excercising in the house, immediately putting away all food and cleaning the kitchen--declaring it closed, calling a friend, cleaning some other area of the house, taking a drive.

These are all things I have done to distract myself from a hunger attack. Sometimes I have to do more than one before I start felling better--but usually I can control myself.

              Re: not feeling right

              Those are such good ideas!!

Getting away from food availability is a great distraction. I get a LARGE bottle of water and read a book.

I think you are entitled to a day or two of feeling down about the WOE. Just so you know it's not permanent. If I'm any example, it is entirely normal to just have a day now and then where I just think "why?" and I usually come here and lurk or post and it passes. Next thing you know, WHOOSH!

              Hang in there!

                Re: not feeling right

thanks guys - that's all really helpful.

I tried a better brekkie and eating my lunch later today and also we went for a bike ride after work so I was distracted and then the endorphins kick in and it's all good!
I have a feeling that I was just eating too early, not getting a big enough brekkie, not including any fats with my lunch and I also suspect that the creme fraiche I used instead of cream may have had an effect.

Anyhow, I do feel a lot better - so thanks!

                  Re: not feeling right

Oh, don't forget a good supplement. I was having a hunger attack this afternoon and realized I hadn't had my supplement yet. I took it and about a half hour later I was feeling much, much better.

Dr Atkins actually recommends L-Glutamine in doses of 500 to 1500 mg, 4 to 5 times a day until the cravings abate. He also recommends Chromium. I just made sure my multivitamin had a good % of both. I take one a day weight smart.

                    I totally agree with you!!!
I take L-Glutamine and Chromium Picolate (amongst many others) and I notice that they do help curb my appetite/cravings. good stuff! lol

I used to take Chromium, but isn't the Piccolinate the bad kind? I forgot what it does, but my doctor said not to take it anymore, so I got the good kind, which I forgot what that was.

??? I've never heard of anything. My multivitamin only lists it as Chromium and it lists it as 200%. Dr Atkins recommends 300%+. That was the highest one I could find in a multivitamin and it works for me.

                        ;-)

Oh with me there is no doubt about that! lol. I was having a hunger attack something wicked yesterday. I made the kids peanut butter cookies and I wanted one SOOOO bad.

I took my vitamin and in about a half an hour, I'd forgotten there even were cookies.

sounds like the low fat lunch was your culprit

BUT remember just cause a food is Atkins legal doesn't mean it is legal for you if it causes you to have blood sugar issues. I know I can't eat celery and not2late has lots of brands of legal foods she can't handle. Some folk can't do nuts either.
