          Re: Coconut Oil

Refined coconut oil is only refined and does not contain the trans fat that the hydrogenated oil does. I've never even seen the hydrogenated coconut oil at any market. The hyrdogentated oil is the one where all the tests were completed and people said it was bad. Well, duh, you did it on the product that contains the trans fat!

Refined, which is not necessarily the same as hydrogenated, will not have the coconutty taste. In fact, many of the properties of the lauric acid might have been burned out of it. As long as it says no trans fat, then it's still supposedly not the bad kind of fat. This stuff I use for cooking when I don't want a coconut flavor, olive oil, or butter flavor.

Unrefined coconut oil is great for your skin and insides because it contains all the properties that fight bacteria and yeast as well as the easy burn. At least this is what they say. I use it on my skin and it takes years off of my face. I'm sure it exfoliates and moisturizes because my skin looks shiney, clean, and new. It doesn't make me break out. I make coconut chocolate bark out of it for when I really want a sweet snack. It's great for recipes like peanut chicken and sometimes a roast. Just don't mix it with vinegar. Blech! You really need to like coconut for cooking with it.

Butter is really good because it has CLA. Well, it has a good amount of CLA if the cows were grass fed, which is unusual these days. Now the cows are mostly cornfed which changes the milk and meat. This is probably why I prefer Angus beef from Wyoming and No. California as these guys are usually range fed.

Olive oil is good, although it makes really bad mayo--at least my version was bad. The refined coconut oil mayo was good until I had to cool it and then it hardened because coconut oil has a solidifying temp of under 76 degrees. Blech. Olive oil doesn't have the great properties of coconut oil, but it sure does make a killer pepper beef stirfry!

I'm just blabbing from all my experiments with oils. I use all the fats I can get, and maybe that's why it takes me a month or sometimes two to lose ten pounds, but I don't gain and I feel great.

            Re: Coconut Oil

Okay, I need to find some of this coconut oil for my skin. It's terribly dry and this sounds like an inexpensive way to help.
