    I am so glad to hear that ...just try eating for a while and see what happens ...anyone who can hear me ..read the book follow it......avoid processed or prepackaged foods....learn your triggers drink water and move your assss it is simple you are what you eat....who wants to be a damnn bar???

      Hmmmm..... While I agree with you about the bars (except in the "emergency break glass" scenarios), I'm not so sure that your quote above moves me.

      You are what you eat? Well ...a bar might be prefereable to a severed cow's a$$ or a ripped open bird. Alas, my bout w/vegetarianism succeeded in adding 60lbs to me. While I'm a newly happy carnivore...I do think they have a point!

        That book has become like gold me to. Three copies....one here, one downstairs and one at work. If I have a question I want the answer NOW! And I finally got convinced that exercise DOES invigorate me. I have more energy than I've had in years and I'm loving it

          I hear what you all are saying and I tend to be a purist too at heart. Atkins does say somewhere in his book that these pre-prepared low carb items are an option rather than going off plan. I think they are great for on-the-run, emergency's, and splurges! I'd rather "do" a bar and count the Atkins carbs than eat a piece of bread or a cracker or a piece of sugar laden anything and then CRAVE and go nutz eating bad stuff.

          I went to Walmart today and walked down the candy isle and the LITTLE DEBBY isle - Man O Man I could SMELL THAT SUGAR! I did salivate... couldn't help it, but I was glad I was in control and had the ability to resist. Before Atkins (Ha only a month ago) I was like a junkie who couldn't resist.

          I bought these chocolate covered coconut bars (3g net)



          And these Cinnamon bun breakfast bars (2g net)

            I spent the first two years of my Atkins Journey scouring the aisles for "convenient new fangled foods" You see, I'm an addictibve personality so now I'm addicted to health.....While I spent these two years scouring the aisles, I could not figure out why my weight was not moving. Why?? I was fixated on this stuff and did not move up the rungs correctly therefore stalling out.
            After many long stalls and still cramming my face with bars, low carb candy, diet rite, Atkins cereals, etc. I finally got sick of it and the money I was spending and decided to clean up my food intake. When I started addinbg apples, more berries, oranges, tangerines, papaya, nuts, extra veggies, etc. My shape totally changed. My energy level went through the roof. I stayed on induction for so long (or so I thought) that my body would just bloat up the second I added ANYTHING. Holding onto so much water!! I decided to forge through that feeling eating clean whole foods and I whooshed like you wouldn't believe.
            Don't eat anything you can't pronounce
            Don't be afraid to properly do Atkins (meaning all rungs adding fruit) I've never seen anyone get fat on fruit and vegetable and lean meats. However, I have seen plenty of obese people on Atkins for more than 4 years constantly struggling and going back to induction.
            Don't eat anything that has more than just a few ingredients.
            Stay away from that diet soda crap. You are triggering your system with false ingredients. When you feed yourself this stuff the body starts its normal prep work to proprely digest this stuff. There is absolutely no nutrients in this stuff and it is falsely triggering your body to work.........what's the first thing????? insulin! A diet soda can trigger your insulin falsely.
            I know I went off on this.
            Convenience foods for you should be whole foods you pre-prepare and individually package for your own convenience.
            Work the plan it will work for you......for life I promise!

            Drinking my afternoon shake right now baby!! organic cabbage, an organic pink lady apple and 6 beautiful organic strawberries blended with water. THE BEST JUICE ONE CAN DRINK!

                you guys really can eat what you want..I am not all that articulate when it comes to things that make me freak out....

                personally day after day I deal with obesity related illness ...in fact to be perfectly honest with you...I would be bored most days if there was not an epidemic of obesity and the results of it keeping urgent cares full....people come in with all kinds of ideas about "how I finally am going to get this weight off" ..

                I dont want people to be ill from eating a horrible diet...eating prepackaged food and bars and shakes ...all of that does not really feed you it just feeds a greedy vendor someplace..

                Fawn said it all in a much more sensible manner than I could ...

                ok Thinker I eat shrimp and look at me ..I am pretty shrimpy actually ..maybe "you are what you eat" was not the best saying... but you knew what I meant

                I just really hate that stuff. I see it as trading one bad habit for another....especially now that I have gotten some insight of my own... and dont see eating these things as a logical answer to being overweight...it is just trading easy way for easy way....

                ok really I will stop now ....thank you for not throwing a tomato at my rant

                    Fawn is a Goddess I swear she just appeared here and I totally have fallen in love with her

                    certainly I may be crazy enough to want to prepare my meals fresh each day but if you can not just make your own and freeze them individually then you have quck stuff ....it is something you made!!!!

                    how cool is that anyway?

                        I will however chop the cabbage up saute it in a tiny bit of butter with onions and the apples sliced and then pile it on a plate with some grated cheddar cheese fresh cracked pepper...and sit eating that with a big glass of fizzy water kind of a smoothie I can chew LOL!!!!

                          My best friend is into his blender. You should SEE some of the concoctions he puts in there.... fruit and carrots and spinach and yogurt.... all at the same time sometimes! LOL

                                You'll love it, Heidi! Some of the combos I've done before came out yucky colors but they were all good. Apples, strawberries and spinach work well together too.
