Re: Dying for a crispy Crunchy snack !!

To me, it seems sort of like a cross between a potato and a turnip in texture and taste. Everyone has different tastes, so this may just be what my brain thinks! LOL!

      Make the Microwaved cheese squares.
They take 30 seconds and come out like Ritz Cheese Crackers - totally crunchy munchy.

Jicama - that gives me an idea - why not slice them, and things like the stalks of cauliflower & broccoli, and radish, etc. & make chips out of them like potato chips or french fries?

This is another way I like radishes... http://users3.ev1.net/%7Efontlady/ra...ome_fries.html

Definitely not crunchy, but EXTREMELY potato-like!

Re: Dying for a crispy Crunchy snack !!

Jicama doesn't ever get really "crunchy" like a chip. I love jicama though. I use it for homefries in the morning with breakfast.
Dice them up small, throw them in a baking dish with some minced garlic and onion, a stick of butter (depending on how much jicama you have, I use BIG ones, they cook down to nothing) and bake for about an hour at 350 degrees, till they are nice and brown. Or you can pan fry them. I just prefer the oven.

                        Hey, cute kids Cindilou!
Jicama doesn't ever get really "soft", it stays kinda crunchy, so I don't think it will mash very well. I have never tried to do it myself, though. Let me know how it goes if you try it.
I love mashed cauliflower though! Yummmy is right!!

I didn't know either, so I looked it up:

A reddish-purple seaweed. Used in soups, salads, and vegetable dishes. Very high in iron.

How would you prepare dulse as a crispy crunchy snack? I can only visualize seaweed as slimy.
