POLL: What kind of Exercise do you do?

  • POLL: What kind of Exercise do you do?

    Hi gang!!

    I was curious - how many of you out there are pushing iron? How many of you are skipping the weights but just doing cardio? How many are doing both or neither?

    I'd love to get some sense of what has been working....

    I use a gym so I do both. Need to tone and burn fat


    26 yr 5'2 F
    Did Atkins on and off from Feb 2005 until April 2008. Fluctuated between 15 st 1/211lbs and 11 st 1/155lbs.
    On different weightloss programme from 28th May 2008 start weight 14 st 11/207lbs.
    Current weight 10st 3lbs/143lbs.
    Ultimate Goal Weight 9 st/126lbs.

      I do a lot more cardio than I do weights. But I do do both.

      It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!




      I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

        Cardio (walking) and full-body resistance training with light weights - both 3 times a week!

          it is sooo hard for me not to say what I want to say but in the bigger picture of life I do both!!!! just not in any intentional form!!!! but I do do it with intent!!!

            Both are required for optimum health benefits as well as strength so I do both, in as much variation *** possible to ensure complete coverage.

              Both
              Frequency depends on how often I get to the gym, although I do some weight/resistance at home when I can.

              Often it's a combination of exercising myself and the dogs.

                Running 30+ miles a week, and Body Sculpting with Gilad every chance I get!!!

                  30 mins cardio on the X trainer 3-5 times a week at level 10-15 (kills me but feels great)

                  Then sit ups and weight 2-3 times a week.

                  I used to do powerlifting, so if I do too many weights, I blk up really fast, and put the muscle on. Just want to tone these days, but powerlifting days are in the past.

                      I cook, clean, do laundry, weed/garden, walk the dogs, post here all day, yell at my kids, swim and occasionally shower. What does that burn in a typical day?

                        I just started on Induction (again) last week, so i have been easing myself back into exercise by walking on the treadmill for 45 minutes, 3 times a week. After my two weeks is up, i would like to start doing weights again, because i enjoy that a lot more than the treadmill! What works for me best is "The Firm" ~ it really kicks your butt! So i'll be getting back on track with that next week...

                          I hadn't worked out in YEARS...I am now doing cardio and weights. Cardio sure helped me loose. Weights have helped me maintain (even cheat and only gain a couple then I take that off fairly easily, not a good thing)

                          Don't like working out, but love what it does for me.

                          Struggling a bit more these days (breaking a toe hasn't helped) But I WILL keep on keeping on! (I keep have to remind myself, lol)

                            Most of my "structured" workouts are Cardio. I do the Stairmaster as my preferred cardio workout. I also walk the dog in cooler weather. Then there is backpacking. On an average 3 day weekend I will do approx 30 miles carrying an average 30-35lb. load on my back. AH and then there is go ol yard work...Mowing, raking,shoveling cutting and hauling cordwood. I want to do more structured weight lifting, but I tore something in my right arm (tennis elbow) It is slowly healing and I should be able to start lifting in the Fall or winter.

                              Hi there! I go to Curves 6 days a week.. half n hour workout there. Ranging from cardio-"weights" (the machines are all hydrolic so you can pace the resistance for yourself). Also, my favorite ALL TIME workout, and found it the most effective is Tae Bo. It's insane how it tones your body. A few years ago I did one of my tae bo tapes in the morning and one in the evening and i was the most toned I've ever been. The tapes get repetitive if you do the same one everyday.. mix them up, there's a lot of the tae bo tapes out there! I've found much success with both my workouts! You'll find one you like and works for u, Im sure!
