As far as I know, there is a LOT of sugar in nearly all (if not all) chinese dishes.

I'm not sure if anyone knows for sure what will go in, as I would assume that each restautant will be different.

Seriously, I would stay away from Chinese food.

                    Re: chinese food?

I dont order off the menu when I go to ao chinese place. Many have a "diet" menu where the foods are prepared without oil, sugar etc etc. Basically made with garlic, ginger, and broth.
For my own at home, I useolive oil to stirfry in and then sesame to dress it with when Im done. Serves the purpose of taste and gives me the chinesefix I crave without going insane at the chinese restaurant

                        Re: chinese food?

I order out at chinese restaraunts once in awhile. I pick what I want and tell them I don't want any sauce added to it and no rice. Whent the meal comes I put soy sauce on it. I have never had a problem. I basically have the meat, veggies and soy sauce. My favorite Atkins Chinese meal is Mandarin Egg Foo Young. Depending on the restaraunt I need to substitute some of the veggies.

                          Re: chinese food?

Mongolian restaurants are one of my favorites as you control exactly what goes into the bowl and what doesn't. The specified meals above sesame and general chicken would definitely NOT be Atkins friendly due to their sauces AND their breading. You'd be surprised how good and temptation resisting a good stirfry with just garlic and oil can be.

also umm some of the sauces come in dry packs i was looking at them yesterday...lemon,sesame,general toa ...they have like o carb count, but to mix them you need to add suger,i thought a splenda might come in handy and just pan fry the chicken with out the batter would be good,,,but im going to wait till im off in duction.and are really craving chinese food before i try this only 9 days left on induction

                              Re: chinese food?

Rude, if the packets have a zero carb count....that doesnt always mean zero. Because of labelingl aws here in the US, companies can get away with saying its 0 when its really closer to 0.5 so.... read the ingredients. if the ingredient list is acceptable, go for it and use the splenda like you said.

Also, check out the recipe section. Some of the girls here are fabulous cooks. You CAN bread chicken and fish and just about anything, even on induction. The trick is to use parmesan cheese! Once you get into owl and hit the nut rung, the world of crusts and breadings opens up for you becauseyou can use almonds to bread food with! (and there is NOTHING better then fried chicken coated in parmesan cheese!)

There are stirfry suggestions in the recipe forum as well, and if you love curry.... Heidi is your go to girl!
