You've stated this several times, but you've never stated exactly what makes this diet "unhealthy". I can't speak for anyone else here, but I'd certainly like to know the specific reasons why you believe this diet is unhealthy.

I just cant get my head around the amount of fats and proteins this diet promotes... it cant spell anything but trouble long term in my opinion... (i know you guys are gonna have fits now you have read this!! )

I have no scientific or medical data to back up my argument..., and as you guys say there probably is non but i just cant help think along the lines i am thinking.

But as i keep saying.... im really not bothered if its bad for you or not as it works.... and thats great!

I would suggest you read the book, Ceejay and get a grasp for how the diet actually works. You may get a pleasant surprise. IMHO, the only unhealthy way of doing this diet is using it as a temporary fix. But thats obviously just my opinion. You have yours, and you are entitled to that.

You obviously don't know this, but my doctor actually thinks the Atkins Way of life is a healthy way of life. As long as you do it properly. (those were his own words).

But I don't think we will be able to convince you, or change your mind. So maybe its time this subject was dropped?

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Okay, so what is a "normal" amount of protein or fat, in your opinion, and how does that differ from the amount you've been eating during your Atkins?

the normal amount of fat or protein in my opinion would greatly deppend on the individual.. so i cant give you an answer "in as black and white a way" as your putting your question..i cant keep stressing enough this is nothing more than my OPINION... normal for me may not be normal for you or anybody else.. and vice versa

i would not eat anywhere near as much fat or protein when im not doing "the yo yo" atkins diet..

But you must understand there are countless doctors that would contradict his opinion.. no one has the definative answer.

Ceejay, I have tried to be patient with you. However, you keep pushing and pushing.

Why are you coming onto an Atkins support board and constantly being "anti" it?

Well yes and no. There are standards for almost every nutrient that dieticians use. Granted it's based on weight, age and sex, but there are still some standards. I'm just trying to figure out how you are determining "high" fat and "high" protein.

For example, do you consider a high fiber rye cracker topped with 1/4 cup of chickpeas mashed with a squeeze of lemon, half a finely chopped garlic clove and 1 teaspoon of olive oil a "healthy" thing to eat?

rich.. calm down.. i think you need to take a step back.. and read my posts on this thread a bit more thoroughly.. i would recommend starting from the beginning.

If you did this you would have read my saying (time and time again) i think this diet IS a good diet.. as it works; although i believe IMO it is just as unhealthy as any other form of dieting..
I respect this diet for the results it achieves..

I understand this, but i still feel these "standards" are put across far to generally and cant give a true account as they are far to impersonal.

As for the cracker thing, i would have to say that does not sound too unhealthy

And as for "pushing and pushing" please explain how i am doing this exactly?!... im simply answering qustions from people.. and giving my opinion. I would hardly call that pushing.

Then why are you here? People here don't agree with your wacky way of thinking, nobody else seems to agree with your opinion, and we're all following the book, so exactly why are you here?

You're not doing Atkins. You can think whatever you want, but Atkins is not what you're doing. This is an Atkins board for people to help other people on Atkins.
