    Tt, I do seem to get cramps every now and then on days when I eat less than 100 grams of carbs, do you suggest I eat a banana before my run? I have a lot of bodybuilding guy friends and they constantly tease me because they say I need to replenish my glycogen stores or I will not build muscle and will get worse cramps as the years go by. Mind you , my guy friends are huge and can probably deal well with the extra carbs...You have been running and doing low carb longer than I have and have you yet to experience any negative consequences?

      Gazaleh, during my long sustained runs on Saturdays, I usually stop about 11 miles in and have a banana. Other than that, I don't *carbload* for running. I eat alot of protein and fat and non-starchy carbs to fuel my running. If you are having cramps, I would suggest you add some potassium/magnesium supplements and see if that helps.

      I run 30-40 miles a week on roughly 40-50 grams of carbs per day.
