Re: Breakfast of disaster; Afternoon of Doom

I remember reading somewhere that babies do not naturally like suger - we TRAIN their tastebuds to like them (and it seems to impossible to untrain them once they're vandalised int his way!). Also, they have a natural cut off when they are hungry mechanism, but we override it by making sure they finish the bottle or whatever.

For me it is potatoes - in any shape or form, but preferably fried. I KNOW they are going to give me bloating and a very unconfortable stomach but there are times . . .

I like that leaving the brain in the woodshed analogy - mine definitely needs reclaiming from wherever it is when I eat junk.

    Good thread, Thinker

I am the same way as Thinker. When I know I am going off I pre plan what I will eat so excited and toy with it..then decide. I am soo happy then, after I eat it I am horrified and depressed. I always eat again that day way before I am hungry and many times and it is all sugar and starch. Like he said, my mind and reason goes totally away and my lust for sugar and bread takes over. Its just like addict behavior. It isnt until the following day when I begin to feel better and swear I will never ever do it again. But once I take even one bite of something off limits its on like it was never off!

We should make a list of our NEVER AGAIN conversatiosn w/ourselves.

Somethign that ALWAYS gets to me is ...OK, I've blown it. My Sugar Brain kicks in and says....have an ice cream sandwich and a [fill in the blank], you've blown it anyway. But rarely ...very very very rarely ....is it really all that great. It is never really "worth the carb".

Yet....I never seem to remember that if I'm in center of a Binge Bubble.

wow, you are right on. Sometimes I have felt as though my mind completely blanks out until it gets what it wants and than I come to and have eaten a really large amount of something deep fried and covered in chocolate. What happens there? I don't understand it except to now view it as the same disease drug addicts and alchoholics share. I am still in the induction phase and hope these cravings and addictions go away soon.

          good post.

            good post.
I LOVE induction because it is like a magic shield against craving. Sitting around in ketosis is next to fabulous.

Heavens! I know what y'all mean about the "once you start off wrong...." thing. By some miracle I've managed to stay clean since starting (and it really is a miracle given my past dieting history), but this only makes me more terrified: i.e. that if I get a day where I "start off wrong..." I'll keep on wrong, not for the rest of the day but the rest of my life!!!

I think it's this terror that keeps me on track.

for me Sally what you said is EXACTLY the reason I have to make the food I eat so seductive ..I do not want to dwell on what I can not or will not eat to keep myself this wt ...I want to get really excited about what I will and can eat to look like this ....vain..self centered maybe ... but true..I love to be hedonistic when I am not working ..it helps with my stress...and this way I can and do enjoy the most amazing food !!!

Hello beautiful H & everyone else.....

Why today was three hard boild, small, free range, eggs and a few beef sausages. (fatty, but yummy) and screaming hot coffee. The latter was an act of mercy given the very few hours of sleep and the late hour my head hit the pillow. Eeessshhh.

I like the mint in the water thing. VERY NICE!
