  • What is your trigger food?

Was just reading, posting and thinking. Something I have not seen discussed much and I think it is VERY important for success on this WOE.
Foods (even Atkins legal foods) can cause a temptation and eventually lead to going off plan.
I found early on that Diet Soda is a huge trigger food for me. Not sure if it is an emotional or physical trigger, but I know exactly what to expect when I have one. Huge carb cravings.
So, I avoid it. To this day I think twice before I drink any diet soda. I could have had it with a meal and be totally satisfied after the meal, but no........ I am looking for something to put in my mouth. Took me a long time to figure out what my problem was.
This is why I found having a journal about what I ate, when I ate and how I felt when and after I ate was a great tool for me.
Anyone else have any trigger foods?

Re: What is your trigger food?

    peanut butter
potatoes (even sweet - can't mess with em)
sugar free 'low carb' ice cream (I'll guzzle down 3 servings at a time)
    'low carb' brownies

I can get away with alot and maintain, but can't mess with the above. I'm sure there are others...
Keep doing what you're doing & you'll keep getting what you're getting!!!

Peanut butter...I just don't buy it anymore. I might later, if I can find a sugar free one to make the low carb peanut butter cookies. Although..maybe I shouldn't. Mostly likely I'd make a huge batch and eat them all myself.

                Nuts and Popcorn!!!

I can't control it very well. I try to measure it out, but then I am craving them.

Nuts, cream cheese, nuts, sometimes heavy cream, and nuts! Not only do nuts totally get me off track but I crave them CONSTANTLY... and I can easily eat a big can in one sitting - and I have done that almost everytime I've had them... which has been way to often!

Cream cheese. When I was a kid my favorite food in the world was a bagel with cream cheese, and i'd even eat it on bread when there were no bagels to be had. So having it now always makes me want something else.

We can buy blocks of aged Parmesan cheese direct from Italy. As soon as I open it, I have to eat the whole lot, it tastes sooooo good. Enough now, back off...it gives me cravings just thinking about it. Funny, no other cheese does this to me.
