    Hey Gang!!

I've read and absolutely glowing article about ginseng today (specifically red ginseng). Unlike half the junk I read on supplements, this one quoted a series of studies. When I then went to other sources, I found the same studies mentioned.

One thing listed as a benefit confused me. They said it can "lower blood glucose levels". Why is that a good thing?

Do any of you low-carbers out there have any experience with this supplement. Good? Bad? Does it work well for our lifestyles?

    Many thanks....

    Re: Ginseng

I have been taking Korean red panax ginseng for about 20 years ..it is an infused liquid one that I buy from a Korean Market ...it has some of the root in the bottle ...I feel good so maybe that explains me?

I wish I could give you an example of what it has done for me but to be honest Th ...I am not sure what life was like before I began to take it..

my entire family uses it ...for energy, stamina ..to keep alert...antiinflamatory ....it is the only thing I have taken continiously for all these years...

I dont think it had any effect on my wt loss or gain ..but I know it is supposed to keep you going

Yep, I always have those tiny bottles from the oriental market on hand. I buy them buy the case (which lasts me at least a year because they are not a daily thing). They are better than most energy drinks! Try one instead of coffee in the morning and see what I mean. Good for a man's libido.

Good for you, helps you too, besides all the benefits you get!

this is by no means medical advice Th but the only negative from what I have read about it was that you could get a bit of a raise in your blood pressure ....

other than that ..I have not found any personally nor have I read anything ...

of course I have not read EVERYTHING.....

Heidi do you take a Panax ginseng suppliment (pill) or the little bottles that sadie mentioned? this is interesting timing as i was looking at Ginseng last week in teh drugstore when buying my vitamins...

I see the liquids everywhere as well..but the pills are a bit cheaper.

                Re: Ginseng

the stuff I use is in a cute little bottle with a visable piece of the root in there that I use the next day to make a tea....it is not the vials although I have used those as well ..I love the little straws and viles ....but you have to be careful and buy a reputable brand of course ...they come in alcohol free versions as well as some tinctures with alcohol...I find tintures and teas to be better than pills

there is one dry product I like a great tea you can buy in Asian(mainly Korean) markets comes in a wooden box is red panax and dissolves instantly in water cold or hot ... I use this instead of the liquid once in a while for a change of pace ..

I will post the brand names and a pic if I can so you can see.. this is the real stuff that is for sure ...

but here is what I really rec ...go to Korean or Chinese herbalist (and because I am a fan of Korean Ginseng I would try that direction) if you can not find an herbalist talk to the ginseng seller and ask .... ask everything ...how to take it what is the best to take ...even if there is a language barrier you can mime it ..I have

It has never interfeared with my sleep no matter what time I take it

..I believe the following and do not mean this as medical advice in any shape or fashion ....

I believe ...like any other supplement that it helps your overall energy, stamina, libido and helps you live with aches and pains.. but in a wholistic way ..I do not think if you take a shot out of a vile and wait 10 min you will feel like Superman/woman ..you need to take it and encorporate it with your lifestyle and it is just an enhancement to what you already have going on ...does that make sense? ...it will not perk you up if you do not have some perk going on...if you do it will help you keep it and perhaps make you perkier
