    Nope, I don't think you are a 'bad guy'. But as a newbie, you and all the other posters here deserve to know why the mods, former mods and old-timers react they way they do. We've seen too much around here and have become protective of the folks who rely on us for accurate information.

    Alot of people here are anxious because this is their "last shot" at losing weight or because they've tried alot of different diets and become easily discouraged if they don't see results 'right this minute'. And alot of people are still in their 'bargaining' phase and will try any angle to get someone---anyone-- to validate that it's okay for them to eat 4 fudge cakes tonight and reassure them that those cakes won't slow or stop their weight loss.

    And in the past we've had our share of cyber-stalkers, PETA prosletysers, Dean Ornish followers and a whole host of other folks.

    So try to look at this from our point of view.

      I feel like i'm being kicked to the curb with this comment. I come here for advice and tips I can use on my diet even though you may not think it's Atkins, I did lose weight on Atkins. I don't see what the whole big deal is, I'm not forcing anyone to do what I'm doing. It sucks that you can't agree with how I'm living my life but you should accept that and focus more on your life and your goals on losing weight. Is that too much to ask?

      There is a lot of good info on this site that i apply to my diet and how i lose weight and that's why i chose an atkins board. not some south beach diet or other low carb forum, i already know what to do when it comes to losing weight on Atkins, even though it may seem i'm losing it the wrong way or defeating the purpose. I'll ask for help when i need it, for now i'll just read up and get ideas on how i can better myself on my diet ok?
      see there is the problem nobody here has any experience with how to make anything work nor any problems you might need to overcome becaue there is no body of evidense how to do your diet. It isn't Atkins it is your version of low carb high fat diet with a reward meal tossed in. we can't answer your questions about it cause we have no experince with that type of plan which is why i said to move to our low carb other board, there are not so strick Atkiners there there are BFL eaters and the other plans that have reward meals that you can exchange info and questions with cause they are doing it have the medical studies to back their typoe of plan ( at least I hope they have some medical stuff to back them and aren't like you saying I'm young I'm healthy I work out and I can get away with it).

      as to the next part that you did induction and did lose weight nobody are arguing that but as you said that was the past before you went overseas. Your chow line sounds great for doing Atkins by the book hamburgers and salad bar, do it yourself stirfry you could have all the veggies legal and the meat leave out the rice and be just fine,surf and turf? again Atkins fine. I don't understand why you are having any trouble doing a perfectly legal post induction OWL as you just said all the needed foods except nuts are there. If you need some rung 3 or 4 foods I know many of us will be very happy to send you a care package ful of them. Dan got some in Germany Desertthorn got them in Iraq when she was there so other then you just don't want to do it what is the issue? and again if you just don't want to why belong to an Atkins onkly board asking for atkins help and then getting upset when the answers you get from the Atkins only folk don't agree that your altered Atkins is the way to go.
      Megs had a great analogy. it is like you going to a Catholic church and then say you don't want to say the Lord's pray cause you like the siddur prayers better, you'd like to use the Quran instead of the Bible, or you don't want communion cause you prefer the seder meal and then getting upset when they didn't comply with your wishes.

      ADBB is Atkins by the book as our mission statement says. use us if you like for info, but don't expect us not to set you by the book straight when you post questions about your plan.

        The post YOU titled says.. Okay, so what's wrong with my diet. Our responses are based on the diet WE follow, that this board is DEDICATED to..

        So why are you asking what's wrong with it and getting upset that you're getting answers based on the very premis of this board?

        That's ridiculous.

          can we give this topic a rest and focus on the other important stuff? i'm not "trying" to influence anyone right now or stray them off the path of atkins, the only advice i will give is the "atkins" advice i used on my diet, plain and simple. like i said forget about my reward that i treat myself with for one minute. i eat induction 20/21 meals of the week strictly by the book, that other meal is my business entirely but the other 20 meals are atkins.... it's atkins, that's why i come here. to focus on my 20/21 meals of the week and get better ideas and advice people. it may seem like i'm doing my own diet plan because i "included" a reward system but i'm still doing atkins the majority of the time and i never cheat or make exceptions when it's those 20 meals of the week. i'm here to help people with advice, atkins advice that helped me get soo close to my goal.

          thanks for the offer on packages but i'm staying on induction until i reach 145lbs, i'm already down a pound at 162lbs. must be because of all the stress trying to explain myself here.

            chris, you aren't suppose to stay on induction till you reach goal. you need to move past induction. a whole host of people are going to come in here and tell you that and give you reasons.

            you are still getting remarks because you are doing atkins (your words, not mine) most of the time. that's what everyone is responding to. we aren't here to tell our newbies and those on any rung to do this most of the time. they have been doing this most of the time thing and then a bunch of us across this board have to pick up the pieces when they confess what they ate and then help them get back on track.

            you state you not trying to influence anyone or lead them astray but i guarantee, you are doing that, even if it's unintentional. a lurker, a member, a guest will read this and think "if works for him, maybe i can do it too" .

            i have been in journals for a very long time and i can't count the times members have said they were going off plan for the weekend and it ends up being 3 months, they come back, 20 pounds heavier, weeping because the weekend cheat turned into a binge. that is what we are trying to avoid and what you are doing, may work for you, but it isn't what we will recommend to any of the other members.

              all i'm asking is give me a chance from here on out, i'm offering atkins advice "only". i already know i need to move onto pre-maintenance but i'm not ready for it yet, jumping from where i'm eating now to stage 3 would mess up my whole diet as it is and i'm not ready. i just set that goal to give me some leeway in case i fall when i get there, that way if i fall i know what i need to do to get back up. My journey to weight loss is something i want to figure out on my own. One thing i do want to say but i just don't want to hurt other peoples feeling who are on this diet is, i don't want to do this atkins diet forever even though there is a stage 4 lifetime maintenance avaliable. I did read the book just to let you know "DANDR 2002". I don't plan on going back to my old ways, but i know i'll be making heathier choices when i get off of atkins.

              Like i said, give me the chance to help other people out by offering "atkins only" advice and let me figure out my weight loss journey on my own, it's something i want to do and you should respect my wishes since it's my life.

                1. You don't plan to "get off Atkins" at any point if you want the weight loss to be permanent. I don't believe you read the book or fully understand the changes that are expected to be made in the way we eat for the rest of our lives, or you wouldn't even say that.

                2. I highly doubt the "stress" of explaining yourself here is helping you lose weight. If stress did it, I wouldn't be here, or need to diet. If you're feeling stress.. now would be a good time to find a low carb board where your diet would fit in.

                3. If it's that stressful, why don't you go to a low carb board, as has been suggested many times. YOU ARE NOT ON ATKINS IF YOU ARE PLANNED CHEATING ONCE EVERY WEEK.

                Okay... this is getting ridiculous... I'm not going there anymore. I'm noticing a pattern here. Ignoring plain facts, refusing to see what anyone else is trying to say... enough attention already.

                  listen Jasmin, why don't you focus on your weight loss and your troubles alright? you don't have to believe a word i say, i don't care and about the stress it's called sarcasm. you see, you leave a few words out or write it in a wrong way and people already get the wrong idea of what you say. i don't need to argue anymore about this "i'm not atkins because i cheat" crap. i obviously must have been doing something right before i started rewarding myself to have lost weight. so if you have to judge me, judge me on my diet and not my friggin so called "planned cheat".
