"We only do vegetables on a sunday sir".

That is what I was told by the waitress who took my order when my gf and I went out for something to eat on Friday night.

I had a mixed grill - Chicken breast, a sausage, a bit of gammon steak and a small piece of rump steak. On the menu it said it came with chips (fries), tomato, mushrooms and fried onions. I asked my usual question of "instead of the chips can I have some vegetables". The response was, we dont do vegetables midweek, only on a sunday. But they did find some peas from somewhere. How pathetic!

Strange rules they have in some places.

Oh my. What do they have against veggies? Is this a popular place to eat?

Well, as I tell my kids all the time (when they want to eat junk food all weekend cuz -hey! it's the weekend) your body doesn't know what day of the week it is! It needs good nutrition every day.

Well, at least she was polite and called you "sir". What's a gammon steak? Did they not have a bit of salad to fling on the side for you?

LIR, gammon is a thicker than normal slice of bacon.

Boonie, I was happy enough with the peas, but it was pathetic really.

Cmcole - Veggies arent really seen as a treat, but i think it has highlighted to us all quite how unhealthily people are eating these days.

Dreamof - No, that place isnt that popular to eat, its more of a drinking pub.

Its not really a restarant Lisa, its more of a pub that does food. (if that makes sense?)

So, if I come to England, I'll pack veggies with me when I circulate the pubs. lolol I hope the food they did serve was good so you had a decent meal. I have a list of places that I rate according to my WOE, - so I guess this was a learning experience for you.

Unfortunately, most folks consider "chips" (fries) to be vegetables!

I would have spoken to the manager and made it clear that potatoes are NOT veggies.

That makes a little more sense. There are lots of bars that serve only "bar food", i.e. burgers and fries, nachos, onion rings, fried cheese, etc. You would have a hard time finding a salad or veggies of any sort at places like this.

                              I thankyou.

But seriously, the food on the menu was a lot nicer than you would normally get under a "bar snack" menue.

Sue (gf) had a salad. Now why couldnt they have put some of the salad food on my plate I wouldnt have minded. sheeeesh.
