Hmm...I really thought they said one week, but two weeks sounds more logical! They work out like crazy. But so would I if I lived on a weight loss ranch with nothing else to do!

I don't know if this will work, but the user comments said it was one week.

My friend is starting a biggest loser kind of thing for us - we all put in 75$, it's 25$ every 3 weeks, the person who loses a. the biggest percentage of original body weight wins the pot. The person with the biggest transformation (since not everyone in the group needs to lose weight) also wins a prize (it wasn't specified what-the rules go out today).

OMG, if it was 1 week that's just crazy. Sure it's inspirational and all but what kind of message is that sending America... The average loser will be very disapointed when they don't achieve those extreme results...
It is a good show though, one of my favorites!

Re: The Biggest Loser last night

I've never saw the show, but heard about it. I watch Celebrity Fit Club and like it, so if I can catch the Biggest Loser, I'd like to see it. However, I have a friend who watches it and she is always depressed when she watches it. She compares her own struggle with weight to the contestants. She was very upset the other day after watching it and said she isn't doing as well as the people on the show and feels like quitting her own weight loss plan. (WW). I tried to talk to her about comparing herself to others, but ....

Anyways, I'm going to try to see the show next week
                  Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

We work better with competition. She and I started one when we worked at the same company - first one to lose 10% wins, but then I left the company and she ended up with some medical problems that made keeping it going hard.

I enjoy the show, but I would really like to hear from the contestants from the first year to see how they are doing. I think their diet is lower carb but also very fat sensitive. But it at least appears that the main emphasis is exercise. How does that hold up over the long haul. I really liked the guy that won the first year and wonder how he is doing.

I watch it but I just wish they could get a little emotion out of the contestants!!???? (those crybabies)

Hey Hudson...I agree with you...I like watching it until they all start boohooing! I was glad to see last night that they didn't make them have a "last meal" gorge fest. (or did they and I just missed it?) Anyway, I'm sure I'll be tuning in this season.

No gorgefest--what a dumb message that would be!

@Becky, tell your friend that these folks are driven with a whip by their trainers and exercise several hours per day. No normal person could possibly do that, we cannot dedicate every hour of every day to weightloss efforts. It's TV, for crying out loud! She can't compare her efforts with theirs.

I totally enjoy the Biggest Loser, I don't know if it was fair that they sent Jen home just because she was smallest loss for the week. They showed that one time where she said she was taking a break, but geez it was like the first day. I know I would be whooped if I was just starting out. Another thing, the two leaders telling the people to go ahead and puke if you need to. If someone was working out so hard they had to vomit, I think I would have to tell them to slow down. I think the show kinda of crosses the line there. I still enjoy it and it does give me inspiration on my own journey.

hmmm....I must be the only one who thinks that the 8 pound weight lose was not out of line for the first week. Even those that did a bit more...still not out of line. But then I lost 10 pounds my first week of induction. And that is without being exercised by a trainer for several hours a day. Okay...the 23 pound one...that seems excessive. BUT...he could have pigged out like crazy the day before AND could have had lots of salt and drank lots of water. And he was a pretty big guy.

It seemed to me that they sent Jen home..not just because she was the lowest but because they thought she did not give her all. Even her trainer said she had to ask her to step it up a couple of times. So I would probably be upset too if I didn't see someone working hard for the team. Mind you...I would be just as likely to vote for the one that yelled and screamed at her because I would be afraid that she would turn on me like that if I had a bad week. But Jen got the last laugh...she went on and lost 66 more pounds without them.

So...for the first week...they did not bad. But I sure felt sorry for the people who were sent home!!!!!!!
