BUT...he could have pigged out like crazy the day before AND could have had lots of salt and drank lots of water. And he was a pretty big guy.

It seemed to me that they sent Jen home..not just because she was the lowest but because they thought she did not give her all. Even her trainer said she had to ask her to step it up a couple of times. So I would probably be upset too if I didn't see someone working hard for the team. Mind you...I would be just as likely to vote for the one that yelled and screamed at her because I would be afraid that she would turn on me like that if I had a bad week. But Jen got the last laugh...she went on and lost 66 more pounds without them.

So...for the first week...they did not bad. But I sure felt sorry for the people who were sent home!!!!!!!

I agree with what you said about the woman who was yelling, I thought why keep such a negative attitude in the house. I think 8 pounds was a reasonable loss for Jen since she was probably the smallest of them all there. It did make me happy to see her update with her loss.

I felt bad for the ones sent home also but you did catch that they were to go home and were given training sessions and stuff so that the biggest percentage loser would return to the house. I didn't catch how much time they had to do that though. Did anyone catch that time limit?

I know...but believe it or not they have done that on past shows. Filled a room with all of their "favorite" sweets...cakes, donuts, cookies, pies, etc. and had them pig out.

And I still don't know why they make those girls wear sports bras. It's so not necessary.

Absolutely - and for that matter the guys could keep their shirts on!

Obviously it is for the visual. We wouldn't be able to 'see' how they are losing weight and changing if they were wearing shirts. I know I wear my shirts loser so they are not hugging my fat but when I started dropping the weight it was harder for anyone else to tell and it took about 30 pounds or so before anyone really noticed. They need us out here in TV land to see what is happening.

@Elsie, I ALWAYS try to wear good fitting shirts around folks who haven't seen me in awhile, because my baggy shirts make me look bigger than I actually am.

Hey Elsie...I realize they need the viewers to see the contestants progress but I think that could be seen just as easily with a fitted tank-top or T, rather than letting their bellies all hang out. It's just doesn't seem necessary to me. But if the contestants are willing to wear the sports bras...I say more power to them.

This is the reason I only watched the show once, I thought this was degrading and embarrassing...it really put me off. they had them make fools of themselves, stuffing food in their mouths to the point where they were almost covered with it.

Re: The Biggest Loser last night

Ok I dont know if the American contestants do this but I know that the Australian ones do... they water load.

It means that on their first weigh in they drink enormouse amounts of water to the point of rediculouse, eat loads of salt and are weighed. They are then assured of a huge weight loss the following week. If they get immunity they do the same thing again that week of immunity, there for giving them a guarenteed win with massive losses the following week.

They drink nothing to very little the day of the weigh in and eat no salt at all during that week. They also do heaps of cardio to sweat them selves lighter.

It was a big outing over here and Gillian and Co. came out and said that, yes the contestants do do this, it isn't encouraged but it is brilliant tactics for winning the bucket of money at the end.... so there you go that is how they can get those massive losses.
