Brazillain?? OUCH!!! But the eyebrows I really need to do myself. I cant stand to tweeze but scared with wax I may rip them all out and look weird!!! Is there a trick to doing the eyebrows with wax? I think I may just go pay to have it done my first time cause if I do it and it hurts too bad, Ill end up quitting with only one done, lol! Now that my face has slimmed some I really need to take care of these 1980's brook sheilds eyebrows!

LOL you soo do not have 1980's Brook Sheild eyebrows! Yours are much smaller!

There's no way I could do it myself... I've tried and it's REALLY hard to get myself to pull and when I do it doesn't do much... it hurts for nothing...

I go to nail salons and they do them there for about $7... Pretty cheap I think. And usually they come out perfect.... However, I have had to walk around with TINY eyebrows before because they were to hasty...! That was the one time I didn't have to pay or tip, and I've never gone back! lol...

I think it's sooo worth it though...

Re: Does this WOE cause irreversible hair loss?

I have not had hairloss from this WOE, just from hormone imbalances. My hairdresser told me yesterday she has been getting a lot of complaints about hair falling out and says its just the change of seasons and shes had hair loss too!

Jeez - I am not sure what I can attribute my hairloss too, but now I guess I can add Atkins to the potential list of offenders.

If you want to go the Brazillian route, I can tell you that the first time is the hardest. Try to go to a nice salon, where they accurately time their appointments and serve champagne (take some Advil first too). It's actually not as bad as you might think. The advil and the champagne relax you, and after the first strip or two, your skin experiences a histamine response that has an anesthetic affect, and it hurts less and less. And each time you go, the hair grows back finer and comes out more easily.

Re: Does this WOE cause irreversible hair loss?

( putting on my hairdresser hat)The sudden hairloss is from a condition known as Telogen Efluvium. This is a condition where some of the hair stops growing for a short time at the onset of dramatic changes in the body ( ie - major dietary changes) This hair is then shed about 2 - 3 months later during the normal shedding process as the new hair pushes the old one out of the follicle . This is a temporary situation and happens to many people ( me included) you wil find you see new hairs coming through very soon so please do not worry. ( taking off hairdresser hat)

I got mine at Smith's Grocery store in the Organic/health section. I hear that Walmart does sell it though,I think with the normal shampoos.

Re: Does this WOE cause irreversible hair loss?

Donna can perhaps advise on this better than I, but typically things applied topically will have little or no effect upon your skin or hair. If they do, they are classified as a prescription drug and have to be overseen by the FDA (hence the difference between retin-A and Loreal Wrinkle Erase, for instance).

You will probably get more value for your money by using the tablets. Taken internally, they can boost your body's processes and hopefully stimulate hair regrowth. The biotin shampoo might coat the hair to make it feel fuller, or fluff the cuticle, but if I am mistaken, it cannot by law truly affect the hair growth. Not to mention the fact that hair, once it pushes through the scalp, is dead anyway. Not much you can do to change dead organic matter.

Totally not trying to be a buzz kill. If you like a shampoo, use it. But for any real change to your hair, skin or nails, the change has to originate internally. Me, I am thinking of picking up some biotin tablets!

                          Hey!
Well my hair was REALLY falling out during the first X amount of months I was on Atkins but finally it slowed and then stopped... and it grew back! Now it's full again!

I know how shocking and scary and nerve wracking it can be but just hang tight, take your vits and it'll all work itself out!
