  • Your A-ha piece of clothing

When I was thin, well, when I was once a size 16 anyway, I wore this great black, Adidas windbreaker, that I loved. Then I gained all my weight and it never saw the light of day. It was a good measure of weight loss because it had a non-stretchy bottom around the hips.

Anyhoo, as I was losing my weight, I remembered that at 260lbs, I could put it on with a t-shirt underneath, but when I sat down, I had to yank it up to my waist because it was too tight. As I kept reducing, I kept trying that thing on and it fit better and better. Now, I can wear a t-shirt AND a sweatshirt under it!

G-Mom's Journey Jacket August of 2004 when it fit again (not well enough to wear sitting down and comfy) and NOW:

What piece of clothing has gone through your Atkins journey with you?

Re: Your A-ha piece of clothing

Well I have this blue jean outfit (jean and a vest) I hope to fit back into in another 20 or 25 pounds. I wore it to a concert years ago (in 1997 great memory value) and soon after outgrew it and then some. I have saved it and the tshirt I got at the concert to wear again some day. I might have been 10 pounds lighter than I am now when I wore it last and was not able to button the vest only able to wear it open. But my body shape changed since I wore it last also after having a baby. I am thicker around the middle now and have smaller butt and legs so I'm thinking I need to lose an extra 10 pounds from where I was the last time I wore it to fit in it comfortably in the waist. Most everything else other than some other even smaller jeans I threw out before starting Atkins thinking I would NEVER fit into them again. I have jeans all the way down to those size 9 Willie Nelson jeans. Doubt I will ever weigh 125 again, and wouldn't want to either, to fit in those Willie jeans. LOL I'll be happy to reach the 175 goal weight and wear a 14-16 again.

Wow G-Mom what a difference in those pictures, that's awesome!

I found a suitcase in my basement last winter and went i went to move it I eralized there were clothes in it so i took a look and there were some of my favorite pants and tops from teh 80's! You know those horrible high waisted pleated tapered pants, pastel overalls, miami vice blazers LOL. well my stepdaughter (13) was in hysterics and couldnt believe i used to wear them..so for fun i tried a pair on so she could see what they looked like...and not only could i zip them up but they fit! I was only about 19/20 when I used to wear these clothes, i never in a million years would have imagined I could have fit into clothes i wore 15 yrs ago.

Though they're not exactly hanging in closet at the moment, and i don't think i'll have them on again boy was that a bad era in fashion and one we should forget

Thanks for the compliments, guys! Sadie, that's so funny about the 80's clothes! My hubby is clinging to some of those clothes and I so want to throw them out. I actually have a couple pair of size 31 jeans (waist) that I wore in the early 90's and I have been holding onto them very dearly because I want to wear them again, however, even if they do end up fitting again, I will never be able to wear them out the door because they are high waisted and tapered leg! ARGH! They aren't even "Mom" jeans, but $50 (then) Legend jeans from The Buckle. Oh well, I will just have to go on a shopping spree...darn the luck!

For me, I cannot wait to get back into my favorite pair of black pants, size 8, have 2 rows of big buttons down the front... I would not presume to take a picture of me in them now... maybe when I reach my 1rst mini-goal... onederland...can't wait!!

Re: Your A-ha piece of clothing

G-Mom, you do realize that you can do sooooooo much with a pair of jeans. Since the tapered leg (skinny leg) jeans are in for the moment, if you wanted to fix the rise of them, all you need to do is chop off the top of the waist, get a smaller zipper, throw that in the old one's place and hem the top. Or you just turn the jeans into a skirt which is easier in my opinion and when a skirt, you don't worry so much about the waist. Anyway, it's a way of keeping something that has meaning like that close to you without looking like you actually *are* from the 80s.

I actually don't really have any wearable-pre-fat-clothes, hehe, I do have this pair of jeans that I used to looooooove, but it is falling apart so I would get really lotsa gazes for that, better not wear that in public, heheeee.
Hey I might just wear it for a pic, see if I can find it............

I don't have any particular piece of clothing that has gone through my journey with me, but I do have a "goal" skirt. I absolutely LOVED this skirt before I gained all the weight and I've kept it because I WILL wear it again one day! I may not leave the house in it (sometimes it absolutely SHOCKS me to see what skimpy clothing I used to wear lol) but I WILL fit in it and at least wear it for my husband. lol

You guys are so sweet! I just love my jacket! @Lyssie, if I were more of a seamstress, I might consider that option. If those jeans were just straight leg or bootcut, I might be able to hide the high waist with a top. I look at those jeans and they look sooo tiny, I can't imagine being that thin again. I remember looking at my side view in those things and thinking I had a pooch. What a nut!

                              Looking reallly good, G-Mom!!

To your question, I was with Soliwit. I was fat for so long that any pre-fat clothes I would have had would be gone to Goodwill or disintegrated into dust from old age. It was a pair of 34 pants or being able to fit into my kids clothes that however settled the fact that I had indeed made it to goal. If I can fit clothes that I couldn't fit into in college, I was either there or clothes had grown in size. It's hard to argue with inanimate objects.
