    Can anyone help?

About a month ago I was weighed and weighed in at an impressived 540lbs, so I knew I could not do 20 carbs so I moved to 40, then 30 the week after starting 20 carbs on the 1st October, so today I go to the doctors for some blood work for my diabetes (more on that in a second)... and I know that ive lost some weight, I got some really accurate new scales and weighed myself on monday and weighed in at 502lbs.... so I jump on the doc's scales and it shows 495.. cool I think to myself, get my blood work done, and go home... anyhow I just on my scales at home and it shows 495... these are my questions...

    1) Isnt loosing 45lbs in 5 weeks kinda dangerous?
    2) Isnt loosing 7lbs in 4days kinda weird?

I have not really started to exercise yet, just move around a little more, park my car at the far end of the parking lot, when you're 500lbs walking is hard to do...but I have a gym membership and will be going there soon.

Also Ive noticed that on my meds I take for diabetes, Ive pretty much done away with them, before I did Atkins.. I was taking

    2x80 lantus
    3x20 humalog 75/25
    2x15mg actos
    4x1000mg metaformin

    Now Im just taking

1x50 lantus and my sugars are within normal range, Im hoping that when I drop the pounds, and get to my target weight of 210-240 that I dont have to do injections at all.

During induction, it's optimal to lose 5-10% of the total pounds you'd like to lose. So 45 pounds (or however much you lost in 2 weeks) is within your 5-10% I would assume.

The old-schoolers on the board can confirm this for you, but my understanding is that the more you have to lose to start with, the more you'll lose on Induction or near-Induction carb levels.

Can I just say that I think it is so freaking awesome that you're doing this? A lot of people at your weight don't even want to try. And a lot of them aren't nearly strong enough to walk around the parking lot. (I bet you'd take to strength training really well, if you ever feel up to trying it at the gym.)

For whatever it's worth, I think you're off to a great start and I admire your courage.

Congrats on your weight loss so far! Fantastic! And yes... you seem to be within usual initial loss range (if my math doesn't fail me!). Being able to ditch medicines (with docs approval of course) has to be a good thing too!

Remember to drink masses of water. It's really important. Also slowly but surely increase your mobility.
The best favour you can do yourself is to get hold of a copy (if you haven't already) of DANDR 2002 edition, and read it from cover to cover. Knowing how and why the lifestyle works is fundamental to smooth progress.

I think you're doing just fantastic!!!

45 pounds in 5 weeks sounds like it's treating you really well! From what you said about your diabetes meds, it sounds like you're getting a healthy hold on your blood sugars. Your body WANTED to lose that weight, and I bet it's thanking you. 7 pounds in 4 days, while a lot, isn't out of the question. Sometimes the body decides to shuck a bunch of weight at once. Your body'll do what it feels like doing based on the fuel you give it.

Keep up the great work!! You're doing so well!
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

            Big

You are dealing with big numbers. 540 is a big number and 45 is a reasonable (also big) number.

The beauty of this is that you can drop 200 pounds in a matter of months.

            Wishing you all the best.

Yeah for you!! That is awesome. A 7 pound loss for a 150 lb. person in 4 days would be alot but not at 500 pounds. It sounds about perfect. Your sugar levels seem to be telling you that you are doing the right thing too. I'm so happy for you. You better start finding clothes that you can shrink into. I doubt your clothes are going to fit much longer.

Re: Err somethings really not right.....

It sounds to me that you're right on track. At 540 pounds, it takes about 6,400 calories a day just to maintain that weight -- and that's with zero exercise. So, a loss of seven pounds in four days in not the least bit unrealistic.

Many Type II diabetics have discovered that they've been able to eventually drop all medications after being on the program for six months, or so. Of course, that won't change the fact that you are diabetic and if you choose to eat a whole chocolate cake you'll be in a world of trouble!

I heartily applaud everything you've done. But, hey, when you do start that gym membership, go VERY slowly in the beginning!
