Yup. And the quote kind of implies that if you're not on Atkins, that you'll be immortal. How silly is that!

I've had people tell me that it's dangerous and that I should eat healthier foods, as they sit there shoving greasy french fries in their mouth while I'm eating a salad with grilled chicken. That's the point when I ask them if they appreciate irony.

The funniest misconception that I've ever heard was shortly after I first began. A co-worker said, "Oh, that's the diet where you eat nothing but meat for two weeks and then anything you want for two weeks, isn't it?"

I had a personal trainer guy tell me how people on Atkins "Drink a gallon of bacon grease every morning for breakfast" and "run around with their eyes and arms twitching because they have neurological damage from it"

              Yeah. Okay.

I've had people constantly tell me that because something is low-cal, I can have it.

And then I'm like, "Ummmm, but I'm doing low-carb." and they're all like, "Yeah! That's like the same thing, man!"

Yeah. In your head, and only if the same thing means you were bogarting the crack pipe again. Man.

Re: Funniest Rubbish Written About Atkins?

So how are all you dead people today HAHAHA?

The commonest misconception is that this is a zero carb diet, and so it goes against the UK government's insistence that everyone should eat 5 servings of veg or fruit daily.

The ironic thing is that some people on Atkins ate junky diets before they started, and they now eat more veggies and salad than they ever did before!

Re: Funniest Rubbish Written About Atkins?

Helena, I went to that site and asked my very own question, asking them to tell me all about the Atkins diet.

I had 5 answers from people who were obviously clueless about it, and 2 from people saying that it works and that it has to be done properly.

Someone even told me it was a lifestyle change not a diet. So it looks like not everyone shares the same misconceptions.

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Yes thank God there are some people on there who had actually DONE Atkins, otherwise it would be unmitigated nonsense.

No, not everyone shares misconceptions, there are just a lot of people who hear and repeat so many of them!
