Re: An interesting theory about artificial sweetners

Yeah makes sense I guess. Honestly I am really struggling right now. I have pretty much stopped losing at 134 lbs, goal is only 4 lbs away, and I am going nuts. I keep my carbs at 30 - 35 good veggie carbs (keeping them at 20 no longer works) and my calories at 9,500 - 1,200 a day, and so far, nadda either.

How I force myself to stay away from my atkins friendly trigger foods is my coffee. I've risen it to 4 -5 cups a day, with liquid sweeteners. It's getting really tough to lose this weight, it doesn't want to budge.

Family members are saying things like "you shouldn't lose more, you look fine" but we all know that clothing hides ALOT. >.<

Ahh, you know...talk to Sillygirl. She went for MONTHS trying to get her body to go down to her goal weight. She stuck to it and all of a sudden, her body gave in and she went down below her goal.

have you had your body fat % checked? I struggled for 5 months thinking goal was just 7 more pounds only to find out I had done passed goal weight bye and was down to 14% body fat. remember your body fat will redistribute itself for about 6 months after you stop losing.

I am pretty sure I have over the acceptable amount of body fat, I am sad to say. I still have a nice fat roll around my stomach, and my thighs have deposits that refuse to move. >.< My clothes look nice, but the mirror after a shower is brutal.

Oh well, onward and forward, it's better then being fat.

Well, you know too that this is a way of life now...it's not something temporary. So, if it takes another month or 6 months to get it off, is it really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things?

Don't struggle, begin eating for the rest of your life. If you are in that pre-maintenance phase and enjoying your food, eventually it will come off.

My opinion is that it follows the, "your mileage may vary" idealogy. Some people are triggered mentally by the smallest amount of sweet( like me!) and lose all control.

                Hey Maerow!

I've been reading about your struggle to lose those last few pounds. It's true what Valid Rouge has said, it took me literally months to lose the final few. I found that eating too little can stall your weight just like eating too much can! You said you've been eating about 1200 calories per day. That may be too low for you, therefore your body is holding onto the weight because it thinks it's in starvation mode! For a few days, try to bump up your calories to 1400-1500 and also up the carb to 40 per day and see what happens. You can always cut back.

Google this: bmr calculator that will tell you how many calories you need to eat to lose. There's also a ton of reading material there that can maybe help you understand why you're not losing the last few!

Good luck, I hope that's helped you!

just remember those BMR calculators are based on high carb eating and it takes more cals to process Atkins style eating from mouth to energy then it does the USDA high carbs style about 25-30% depending on what you werre having before. so fear not the cal and feed the hunger! remember also as we lose weight it takes our body less cals to do the exact same things so either we increase our actrivity levels as Dr Atkins refers to it or we need to eat less and our hunger will tell us this.

I meant about eating one and thinking how luscious just that cream cheese was
