    I know a few people who eat nothing but bars for breakfast and have lost over 110lb; it effects different people in different ways I guess. I can eat regular bars (although they taste pretty nasty) without issue, but the indulge bars (which taste just like chocolate) knock me out of ketosis straight away.

      This is my second time around on atkins...

      The first time, I'd eat a bar and a shake everyday because I was a college student, with a horrendous schedule and no access to a fridge during the day (my cooler wouldn't keep stuff cold long enough--by the time I'd get around to eating it, it was warm and I was skeptical). And believe it or not, this did not stall me--in fact I lost about 40lb. in two months doing this.

      This time around, however, I noticed that the bars were REALLY stalling me, and it also seemed to me that there was more junk in the bars than before...it seems like they changed the recipe??? So I gave them up, unfortunately after I had purchased a huge amount of them. I actually like the taste of them...reminds me of a candy bar. So I think I'll keep them for later on in OWL if I have a food emergency. I can't afford NOT to keep them!

      It's pretty amazing, not only how they affect different people different ways, but how they can affect the same person at different times in their life.

        Didn't know that I needed to be wary of Atkins products. Haven't had any yet, but I had planned on trying the shakes and an occasional bar. I suppose Dr. Atkins must be rolling over in his grave now due to the way his ideas have been represented just to make a buck!

          most folk bar issues were those who eat meal bars as snacks but anybody losing weight on a bars and shake plan is destine to be a "Slimfast yoyoer". folk lose on the bars and shakes great but can't keep it off cause they have not learned how to eat real foods in the propper portions and only those foods thier individual metabolism can handle so they will regain weight and again jump back on the bars and shakes weight loss plan only to do it over and over again.

            I disagree, a good friend (who infact turned me on to atkins) has maintained for over a year and still uses bars. He is atkins educated in every other aspect of low carbing; infact doesnt dandr2002 say bars are ok?

              check your DANDR 2002 and you will find in chapter 11 Dr Atkins clearly says IN AN EMERGENCY.... can't be much of an emergency if it is an everyday event.
