  • I'm so sorry...

that I didn't believe the warnings about aspartame triggering cravings. I was doing so well. I never craved junk- i barely had an appetite at all. Then I decided to add one diet pepsi a day because I thought it would be a nice substitution for something sweet. BIG mistake I've been drinking the soda for about 4 days now and I am craving everything- especially sweet stuff- i just had a mini milky way bar. Somebody slap me. I didn't listen and I should have but I have learned my lesson. I threw the rest of the Diet Pepsi out- filled up my water bottle and plan on drinking more than normal. I am humbled by all of you

Helen--glad you threw the junk away, picked yourself up, and are admitting your mistake. You are a strong person! You can do it, and will do it. You've learned from this experience, and will be wiser in the future.

I know exactly what you mean - I find a class of cola really cures my sweet-tooth, but then I just cant stop drinking it!! So I dont buy it anymore either!

I just stick to the cream cheese, cocoa and splenda mix, and have that every other day - I look forward to it so much - but it really does hit the spot for me! Plus it doesn't seem to effect my weight loss!!

Good luck on "cold turkey" hehe!!

Thanks guys. The weirdest thing of all is that I never even drank soda before I started dieting so I don't know why I statred. I just can't get over how different I felt after adding it to my diet. It was like I couldn't get enough to eat- and I wanted bad stuff. I admit I was skeptical when I first read how bad it was but now I know. And I'm not sure I like the cola on my teeth either.

was your soda caffeine free? caffeine stimulates insulin production and insulin lowers blood sugar causing food cravings.

OH I never thought that it could be the caffeine. I drink coffee but it's decaf. I forgot it could be the caffeine- I'm not sure of the best way to rule out what it is. All I know is I don't want to feel like that anymore.

That's not so bad -- she should just use Diet Rite, since it has Splenda instead of Aspartame. Of course, water is ALWAYS better!

A light bulb just went on for me.... while I was traveling earlier this week, I drank a lot of diet soda (which I rarely do) and used more artificial sweetner than usual. And I've been wondering why I've been ravenous the past two days... DUH!!

Thanks for the reminder, Helen -- I shoulda known better!

the sweet taste makes them ravenous in a bit is used to fatten animals so be sure it isn't something you fall prey too.

It's a life lesson, and aspartame affects everyone differently. You've learned something really important about yourself. Empirical evidence, if you will, about your body! You're becoming enlightened! Along the way this will make for some stunning epiphenies. View them and embrace them! We're with you all the way!

I just went out and got Diet Rite- it's not bad but I'll never understand why they can't make a diet soda with less sweetener or something- it's like they just put too much in . In the time it's taken me to write this- i realized that I don't like this Diet Rite at all- yuck. Are there any other sodas made with splenda????

                            Hasons has splenda diet drinks

try adding a lot of ice to your glass and pour the soda over it as the ice melts the taste gets diluted and the sweetness is less but you could just use club soda with some davinci syrups or just plain water.

Now I remember why I don't drink the stuff either. Is Hanson's the one that comes in the bottle, I really like the root beer when its really hot out and the root beer is really cold.
