Re: I am looking forward to...?

With no offense meant, and while not trying to rain on the low-carb parade: A moment of refletcion...

Goal is an arbitrary number people attach to the magic feeling that's supposed to be there.

It is terribly dangerous to assume that just because we are at goal, butterflies will flap out of Paris Hilton's butt and we'll have world peace. The hard work begins at goal, and is called maintenance.

A pair of nice-fitting jeans doesn't mean the boss isn 't still a jerk, or that our son will be coming home from college with straight A's. All weight loss guarantees is weight loss. A lot of people become disenchanted when they notice they still think they're ugly, still think they're stupid, and still think they're a failure as a mom, or at their profession.

So, being real here, hitting goal? That's the day the hard work begins, that problems still exist that could take me back to square one, and diligence I didn't realize before, even while losing weight.

Hitting a pragmatic goal and maintaining aren't necessarily sexy. They're just necessary.

      I know Cleo--

The spirit of this thread is what physical activity would you like to accomplish in the future that you CAN'T now because of your weight, fitness level, etc. I used the word goal because that symbolizes the place where you or I will be physically able to do what we want to do--not the magic number where we can stop all the hard work.

Really, we'll never be at "goal" because it's something that's ever-evolving.

Re: I am looking forward to...?

Wow, great thread. I was moved to tears and realized.....I never reward myself when I reach goals and just go on as if nothing special happened. Just a few weeks ago I was having this conversation with a friend. I REALLY believe that I NEED to plan a reward. With that said, I would like a raincheck to get back to this thread, even if it takes me 3 weeks and no one else reads it.

There are a couple of areas in the south of the UK (Devon) where they have butterfly farms (farms is the wrong word but I can't think of a better one!) - haven't been there since I was a kid but they were cool!

When I reach my goal, I am going shopping. I know that probably isn't what you meant in this thread but..

I am going to go to every single store and try on everything, and that'll be exercise

And um, I'm also going to enjoy telling the sales clerk to 'take it back, it is too big, i need a smaller size'.

            * runs out of the thread giggling *

              Kitty--
Oh I love that...sometimes when I return stuff, I feel the need to tell them why, ESPECIALLY if it was too small. And I say it loudly. Loud enough for them to think I have hearing problems or I'm just loony. Not that it happens very much (I have a bad habit of buying things small so I can "grow into them"...But come on, when something's too big, how great is that!
