New To Atkins - I Don't Get It

  • New To Atkins - I Don't Get It

    Hey

    So like I came accross this site as I am ready to do on a diet, from what I have read atkins is basically eating meat and exercising and you will lose all the weight?

    How many calories you meant to eat on atkins? How does it work? I know it does work and it's intresting...

    What's the difference if I just eat 1,000 cals a day and exercise like mad? wouldn't that be the same?

    TMO! There is so much more to Atkins!

    The only way to truly do it/understand it and suceed at it is you HAVE to read the book
    "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution".

    I strongly suggest you get it and read. The book changed my life (along with this board)!

    You can also look through the forums here and see that there is alot more to it!

      It looks pretty simple to me to tell the truth. Just eating around 1,200 cals of meat a day and proper exercise would be the same thing.

        Nope...not the same thing. There are sugar addictions to conquer and sugar comes in many shapes and forms. Please read the book!

          True but I used to eat loads of sweet and drink coke but latly because no one buys them at home I can't eat them. So..

            Read the book. 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. Until you do, you'll never understand it, let alone do it correctly.

                Hi,
                Your protein amount on Atkins is set at 30% of your daily intake.
                Have a look in the different forums at the stickies at the top of each one for a hoard of info until you get the book.

                  Atkins is NOT just eating meat and exercising.

                  Just eating meat is a ridiculous way to lose weight, and terribly unhealthy.

                  Atkins is eating meat and vegetables (and cheese and eggs, and all kinds of low carb things) and exercising. There's a specific way to do this, which can be found in the book. The book is like 200 pages, so it's kind of hard to explain in a 2 minute post on a bulletin board. You can look on the Induction forum at some of the stickies that tell you what you can and can't eat in the first two weeks.

                      You're going to get out of this what you put in it. Cliff Notes efforts will yield Cliff Notes results and will only serve to perpetuate the myths that abound (like that it's just eating meat and a few veggies and exercising).

                      It is easy, that's why the book is only a couple of hundred pages long. Truthfully, you could have blown through 1/4+ of the book in the time you've likely taken to surf the forums and you'd have a bigger and accurate picture of what Atkins really is.

                      We're here to support you and encourage you in any way that we can - but you have to do the foot work yourself. We could go on and on and give you the information you're asking for, but it's already been done in book form

                          You should read the book and/or the induction forum. This is not where you just eat meat and lose weight. It's a process and in order to have it work, it should be done according to Dr. Atkins.

                            We still use Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 ed, like we did in 2005 when you joined ADBB. So dig it out and dust it off.

                            You might want to re-read it to refresh your memory.
