I certainly did not come up with that
but then perhaps I don't know how to figure thing the way that you do!
Could raise the fat content by using 1/2 & 1/2
    significantly!
1 gram of fat has 9 calories
1 gram of carb has 4 calories
1 gram of protein has 4 calories

fat calories + carb calories + protein calories = total calories

According to the information you posted, the shake mix has 2 grams fat, 20 grams protein, and 4 grams carb (sugar is a type of carbohydrate).

So the total calories of that shake mix is
    2 g fat X 9 = 18 fat calories
    20 g protein X 4 = 80 protein calories
    4 g carb X 4 = 12 carb calories

    18 + 80 + 4 = 110 total calories

    % fat calories = 18 divided by 110 X 100 = 16
    % protein calories = 80 divided by 110 X 100 = 73
    % carb calories = 12 divided by 110 X 100 = 11

      Re: Induction weight gain?

      Thank you for this info
      way complicated
I guess I just better stick to regular menues
because math is not my strong suit!
I never knew it had to be this complicated.......whew
All I want is to be healthy and down to my normal weight.
I thank you for sorting out my weight gain issue.
I bagged the protien shake, but I do love shakes
so this morning I crushed up 8 ice cubes added 2 raw eggs, threw in some godivia cocoa powder some half and half and water, a packet of stevia a little vanillia and whipped the daylights out of it. It was pretty darn good!
I gained much of my weight at the neighborhood custard stand...it was good going down although
my guess is it will take some time and perseverence to take it off!
Thank you again for your support!
I listened to Ken's videos yesterday, what a wonderful contribution. I had read the book a long time ago. He really brought the facts home again!
Sometimes in my haste I want to take the quick way to fast food.
Oviously protien shakes and soy milk were a wrong turn! I had no idea that too much protien turned to sugar, DUH!
Your snack tips helped too! Pepporonni and a motz stick do fine.
Well here is to a clean induction! At least the cookies, cake, sweet rolls, crackers and mega breads are over, it can only get easier!
Gaining weight was truely disheartening, your patience interest and support helped to sort out the issue. again thank you!

        Re: Induction weight gain?

Half and half isn't allowed during Induction. Heavy cream is in limited amounts. You might want to look at the FAQ section of this board and review the Induction Acceptable Foods List. We use the 2002 edition of Dr. ATkins New Diet Revolution. I realize that some of the Atkins publications after his death have changed the diet somewhat.

          Re: Induction weight gain?

          Hello Ellen,
I had the same problem, I was eating very simply with no cheats, and a whey protient shake everyday for lunch. yet after 6 weeks I wasn't losing anything! it wasn't until I cut the shake out of my daily menu that I started to lose. Mind you I am losing very slowly, but before with the shake I wasn't having any loss at all.

Hope things start up for you. take care Pru

            good golly,
            common sence does not rule!
Certainly whipped cream is more than 1/2 & 1/2 but
            love whipping cream!
diluted it serves the same purpose!
When I read this stuff. I tend to run with it and my imagination fills in the blanks,
and PRINT IT, perhaps it is wishful!
I will reread, again, and not edit to align with my common sence.
I think I may have uncommen sence lessness!
            again Thanks

half and half is half cream and half milk.
