  • Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

Just curious if when you lost weight you got rid of your bigger clothes or if you saved them. I have a couple bags of clothes that don't fit me anymore, and normally I would bag them up and stuff them in the closet *just in case*. But now I 'm thinking that's the wrong attitude to have. I should get rid of them! No excuses for going back! Right??

Anyone else? Do you keep your bigger clothes or give them away?

I had a yard sale. What I didn't sale, I gave to Goodwill.

I did keep one pair of "fat" jeans that I enjoy trying on every now and then.

      GOT RID OF THEM!!!
i shipped some to peeps that weren't as far along as i was, i gave some to goodwill and gave some to a needy girl i found out about through my church.

i never want to wear that size again. i can't gain over a certain amount of weight now or i wouldn't have a thing to wear!

All gone - wearing some trousers that are 25 years old, that I could not bear to part with.

The dress uniforms made for me in 1977 have been adjusted back to the size they were when made. My service Dress (the British kharki) had two 3 inch side panels put in a few years ago - they were removed.

I am now the same weight I was when I was 17.

            Yes, this "diet" works.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
            he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Some I gave away to friends. Most of them I sent to the women's shelter. They always need clothes.

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

Gone and good riddance to them! I giggled with glee as the Diabetes Association came to my door on a brisk March morning to pick up 3 garbage bags full of old clothes. Got to help in funding Diabetes research and released myself from the shadows of the past.

I thought about keeping one of my pairs of jeans with the 42" waist so I could do one of those cool photos where you stand in them and stretch the waist out to show how much you've lost...but the sight of them sickened me so off they went!

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

three years ago i lost 50lbs and I gave all my big clothes away to people who could use them. i think that if i hadn't gotten rid of them, it'd have given me somewhere to go back to. i gained some of the weight back but now that i'm at the top of my clothes size wise, i refuse REFUSE to go buy bigger sizes. But, I've lost about a size since Nov 19th, yay!!

Mine are gone except for a pair of shorts that I keep and try on occasionally just for grins. I can take them off without unbuttoning and unzipping them now.

GET RID OF THEM!!!!!! As I reduce to the next size down, I take all the clothes in the now-too-big size and give them to Goodwill. If I ever have a hankering to see how far I've come, I can always trot my heinie down to Lane Bryant and try on the largest size I ever was. Personally, if I never see the inside of a Lane Bryant for the rest of my days, I will die a very happy woman!

Gave them allllll away (some still had tags on them!) through the internet freecycle group. I actually had a bit of a ritual -- I sorted them out by 4x, 3x, 2x, 1x, xlg - for every trash bag I filled, I said a formal fairwell to that size. It was great

Stacey, I feel the SAME way...if I never fit into Lane Bryant clothes ever again, I'll be very happy.

As you can see, i saved a prom dress from 1988...I was 16 years old in the before photo. W00T! I LOVE ATKINS!
