Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

I gave most of mine away to Goodwill. I kept one or two sets of clothes that are only one size bigger...just in case.

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

I need to lose 100lbs. I figure I'll give away all of the clothing I am too small for. However when I am about 20lbs from goal I will probably keep that stuff. I plan to have another child after reaching goal and it would be nice to not need maternity clothing for a few months(I hate maternity clothing!). However if I wasn't planning another child I would get rid of every single item.

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

I have bagged my big clothes up, PLANNING to take them to Salvation Army, but apparently I'm just lazy and I haven't done it yet.

I was thinking of saving one pair of pants, but I think I like the idea of just trying on the old size in a store...My problem before is that I DID save all of my fat clothes, so I didn't really notice all the weight I was gaining, because I still had clothes that fit, right? I just blamed them being small on the washer and dryer...heh heh heh. SO THIS TIME I'm getting rid of EVERYTHING FAT!

All gone! I wanted no "safety net". Donated them to sevearl charities.

I will never go back. I have jeans now that "tell" me where I am!

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

I kept one blouse and one pair of slacks. I use them for 'reality checks'---times when I feel like I haven't lost any weight at all. It's also a good reminder for me of what I was and what I could be again, if I don't watch it.

Otherwise, I donated my larger clothing to the Salavation Army.

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

I kept my biggest shirt and my biggest pair of trousers, and the rest I have donated to a charity shop.

I can get my biggest pair of trousers on whilst still wearing my new size, and even then they fall down. I love it as it reminds me of how far I have travelled.

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

Nope, I gave away most of my fat clothes. No excuse to go back, and I am NOT buying smaller sizes. I am never gaining this weight back. Too much hard work to get it off. >.< I'm never doing this again.

I'm like Jimmie, I got rid of them all, and now if i gained any weight back I'd have absolutely nothing to wear! I do have a bridesmaid dress i wore at my heaviest, and though i'd never wear it again, I keep it to try it on every now and again (it was custom made so it's exactly the size i was).

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

Thanks, Chasin, for starting this conversation! I think you are all so brave. I have always kept several sizes in my closet because I have just gotten used to growing in and out of clothes. But you all have really made me think that there's no better time than now to make this change permanent.

I have never felt this confident before when trying to shed weight. I had originally thought until reading this thread that I would wait another month to get rid of any clothes....just to be sure. But now you have all given me the confidence to start chuckin those oldies as I shrink out of them. I'm gonna do it! Next week I will probably not be able to wear my current size anymore...so I'm gonna get rid of them too. That extra space in my closet and drawers will be great. You all are awesome!

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

I have been dieting for a little over 1 year and lost at the highest point over 60 pounds. I did get rid of my clothes and so when my weight started to creep up this summer I got on the bandwagon and started this plan. I will not venture from this plan now. I am going to continue to lose another 50 pounds and yes, as the sizes go down I will get rid of my colthes. I have recently lost some inches and I did get rid of some pants this week! It is one thing that keeps us on target! At least it helped me.

Re: Did you get rid of your bigger clothes?

I've hung on to clothes. Too long. No more...other than something I can wear when gardening or doing dirty work. If it gets ruined, no harm done.

Last night when putting away laundry--took a good look at my closet. Started bagging clothes in good condition for charity. Starting on my 2nd big plastic bag

                        Thanks for the inspiration.

I keep passing mine down to my roomate (who quit atkins after only a week to go to weight watchers) The sizes I am needing to get rid of now though she isnt into yet so I think I will just put them away or give them to goodwill. She has pretty much quit dieting and is trying to have a baby. Myself though, I know from personal experience that pregnancy is the worst time to just go nuts and give up on eating healthy. Thats how I gained 50 lbs for each of my pregnancies! NEVER AGAIN!!!

I am planning on giving all mine to my aunt. Because I live with her so when I see her wearing them and I know full well that they won't fit me I can smirk to myself. I will be smirking because she is the one who told me that when I die or a heartattack from this WOE she will not be at my funeral.

I will get some kind of satisfaction out of seeing my old clothes on her and knowing I am in clothes 3,4, or 5 sizes smaller!!!

i shipped some to peeps that weren't as far along as i was, i gave some to goodwill and gave some to a needy girl i found out about through my church.

i never want to wear that size again. i can't gain over a certain amount of weight now or i wouldn't have a thing to wear!
Me too. I got rid of every last thing that was too big. I knew that if I didn't and kept any of them, that it would be too easy to grow back into them. So I allowed my mother and sister to pick through and take anything they wanted, and then donated the rest to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

When I first lost weight, it took me forever to throw out the old stuff - then when I did I started putting on.... and, theres nothing I've found to demotivate you more than having to buy larger clothes! (Though I'm sure for some this would be a insentive to get back on track)
