Colleenmag, I would think if you're less hungry, that's a good sign. To me, the sign that I'm doing it right is bad breath. I can taste that I'm in ketosis. I also kind of felt crappy for days 3-7, but I feel great now, so I think I'm on the other side of induction flu or whatever they call it.

        Hooray for all of you!!!

Sherrie - that is definately close enough! LOL!! 3 lbs. is fantastic!! I am so happy that you have figured out the 10% guideline. Great job!!

Colleenmag - Sounds like you are doing a great job!! - It must be so hard when you can not understand the labels!! I can't even imagine! Glad your hunger pangs are going away - but be sure and go ahead and eat if you are truly hungry. There is no need to deprive yourself on this WOE. Have a protien/fat snack.
As far as the cravings are going, hang in there!! It will get better! You are doing a great job!

Ke15i - Yeah!!!! You are both doing great! I've read that the men always lose faster than women, stinks doesn't it? I'll bet you'll be in those skinny jeans before you know it!!

How is it going with your water? I read a tip that has helped me and that was to add a very thin slice of cucumber to the water. It gives it a crisp, clean flavor!! Yum!

How about exercise? I see that Kelly has joined the Abs & Mileage challenges! Way to go!! For anyone who needs motivation - I'm telling you, it is working for me!! I was the biggest procrastinator but now I can't wait to get on here and report in and change my siggy! (Not to mention, try to keep up with my Buddy Tracie515!! - She is SO kicking my butt!!)

Well, be sure and post any questions you may have, someone here at ADBB usually has the answer!!

        GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!

I'm a little late checking in....busy day, but I am on only day 2 of Induciton and so far so good.......big challenge tonight......at a friend's house and all they had to eat was pizza and pasta........i just had a small salad. I have a question though........how long does the tiredness last? I have been really tired since I started this. It is funny, I feel good but tired. Everyone is so nice here and supportive........i love forward to logging in

I'm on day nine and feel great. I did Atkins in the past and lost lots of weight but I stayed on induction for six months (can you imagine?) because even though I read the book I didn't really understand the whole program. I've learnt a lot reading all of the posts here and I look forward to OWL! Also, I measured myself and I lost over 7 inches in my first week (bust, waist, and hips combined). Yeah!!!!

Today is day 9 for me and I'm down 8 pounds. Feeling pretty good, but the worse times are from after I put the kids to bed until I go to bed. I just want to pig out. I think maybe I need to go to bed when they do (7:30) for a few nights to get over the worse of it!

Re: Check in & Reporting Thread for All NEW YEARS Atkineers!

Yeah, More new faces!! Welcome everyone!

Ris - You will beat that craving - just keep doing what you are doing and do not let yourself get too hungry - eventually you will starve out that "monster" craving! As far as the energy up and down I belive that is just a normal part of induction and if you can just try to get a little rest it will get better and before you know it, it will be over!! One thing you may want to consider is suppliments. I started those about 4 days into induction and I think it helped me out. Everyone is different though!

Hey Asbeemer! Welcome! I am so proud of you for sticking to your WOE in the face of that challenge!! I have been there! ( I think all of us here at ADBB have been) You made a great choice and I bet the feeling you had from being strong is better than the feeling you would have had after eating that carb-ladden food!! Great job!!
I really think everyone is different as far as being tired. I know it can last a few weeks, but if you stick to it, drink lots of water and take suppliments. (At least a multi-vitamin w/out Iron) it may help it along.

Do any of you more experienced ADBBers have any advice to add about this?? Thanks!
                  Stella

Hi Blue!!! 7 inches is WONDERFUL!! You must be sooooo happy!! Congratulations!!
Don't you love this site? It has been a huge reason I feel that this is my new way of life rather than just a diet. The people here have shown me that this is possible and that even I can do it! Anyway, welcome back and I'll meet you in OWL!!

Hey Zencyn! Welcome!! 8 lbs.!!! YIPPEE!! How exciting! I remember having those feelings at first too. Amazing, those old habbits die hard. Maybe you could do what I did and just become an ADBB addict!! LOL!!! Seriously though, you are right, go to bed, watch a movie (NOT T.V. - way too many food commercials), read a book, take a long bath - anything to get your mind off of it. Soon it will become a habbit to do something else during those hours. You are doing such a great job!!

Cynthia i use the time after my kids go to bed to excercise and walk on my treadmill. Keeps my mind off of food and gives me the excercise i need also.

Hi everyone! I started with you all on the first of the year, but was afraid to post in case this was another *diet* that I started and stopped before the first weigh-in.

Well, I'm 10 days in and lost 10.5 pounds!

And I don't feel like I'm dieting at all. Yesterday my kids BEGGED me to go to Wendy's so we did. I stripped the bun and sauce off of my burger and tada! And I was down again this morning.

I'm afraid to get too excited because I've tried to lose weight my whole life. But I am hopeful this time . . .

                        Nice to meet you all!

Jenny I am 32 years old and hit 200 Lbs in the 9th grade! Overweight my whole life. I have tried everything. Low Cal, Low Fat, Starvation. Atkins is working for me, Its the only WOE that has ever worked for me. We can do it. Just keep your eye on the ultimate prize and you will succeed.

Hi DisneyJenny! Great job today!! That is one of the reasons I love this WOE, you can almost always find SOMETHING to eat, even out with the kids.
Glad you came out again to post!! Welcome. Don't be shy, pull up a chair and tell us about yourself!

Great job on the 10 lbs.!! Isn't it a great feeling??!!
