  • Celery Advice

Most of you probably already know this. Celery get's rubbery if it sits in the fridge too long. My father is a Biology teacher and said to soak it in water (tugor pressure) so I did... Good as new! Small things impress me. I would have normally pitched it.

or the other thing you can do, is discard the plastic wrap it comes in and re-wrap it in aluminum foil. in foil, it never gets limp. for real.

Now, I have done this recently when out of ziploc bags...and come to think of it, it did stay crisp - but I didn't make the connection to the wrapping. Duh! Thanks for the tips!

oh yes! i immediately re-wrap in al foil as soon as it comes home from the grocery. it works! you will be amazed at how long celery will keep in foil. well, er, ah... i *used* to keep celery a long time, but now with the WOE i eat alot of it, so it never hangs out in the fridge too long!

I like the water thing better because it's free and it engorges the stalk with the water we want and makes them extra cold and crispy!

If you want to be fancy you can also put some food dye in the water and turn your celery any color you want. Easiest science project you can make!

Not the food dye, the aluminum foil.
