Help!!!!!!!!! What is going on!!!

  • Help!!!!!!!!! What is going on!!!

    Hey everyone I really need your help! Is it possible to be in ketosis and still not be losing weight? I get up every morning and faithfully pee on the stick, and every morning it is somewhere between deep pink and purple!! The problem here is that I just don't seem to be losing like I thought I would in fact the other morning I had gained back a half lb!! I do not cheat, well I drink an ocassional diet drink or two but that don't spark me to eat more!! Am I just stalled or what? Feedback and your comments pleeeeeeeease!!! Any info why the stick is telling me I'm burning fat and my mirror says I'm not would be helpful!

    To be able to really help you we would need more information, like: what is your curent weight, how tall are you, how much are you trying to lose ( I asume 80 pounds?) etc etc and also give us a few days worth of menu's so we can see if maybe you are overlooking something.

    To keep the answer very simple; yes you can be in ketosis and not lose.

    I bet we can help you if we know more, untill then, don't worry too much, you can do it !

      Yes, I agree, more info would be helpful. Also, how much exercise are you doing and do your clothes feel looser even though the scales aren't saying too much? A stall is technically a month with not an ounce or an inch lost, has it been that long?
      It's also my understanding that those sticks can simply be showing the ketones being excreted from your body and it might be from the fat you ate, not from the fat stored in your body. I've never used them, but have read that around here somewhere

        Purple sticks means you're burning fat... but doesn't tell you if it's stored fat or fat you ate. If you had too much, then it could be the fat you ate.
        I agree with the others... it would be nice to have more info to help you better.

        Often deep purple can indicate that you're not drinking enough water. I know that when I upped my water intake I lost weight faster and the ketostix turned only a mild pink.

        Don't stress too much about the stix... some people lose without ever seeing pink/purple at all. Go by your measurements mainly, for an accurate indication of progress. There are times when the scales lie.

          The weight fluctuation is NORMAL! Occasionally I'll gain a pound or two, then lose it again. I'm sure most people do.
          If I were you, I would just relax and carry on.

            I am 5' I weigh about 195 now.
            I try to walk on the treadmill at least 35 min every day that I can.
            I also work at a job that is fast paced, requires a lot of bending and lifting so I'm not sitting at a desk all day long, I'm pretty active.


            Thanks for the feedback so far! Well here goes, this is a typical day for me!

            Breakfast
            a couple of eggs
            sometimes sausage or bacon and cheese

            lunch
            Either baked chicken a hamburger patty and some kind of veggie like green beans or a salad

            dinner
            baked porkchop , cauliflower with butter, oh yeah and sometimes I eat one banana pepper with my meal.

            Sometimes I will have a diet coke with lunch and dinner but I do try to drink water all during the day though it has been harder lately since its been so cold!

              I'd like to add that you should take your measurements. I went through something similar, followed the advice on this board and took my measurements immediately, it was amazing how many inches I lost when the scale had barely budged.

              I'm not an expert on this diet so I'm just throwing this out there....I'm not sure you are eating enough fat??

                At first glance I'd try ditching the diet coke and the banana. You need to wait until you move to OWL and the fruit rung before adding bananas.
                Also... re the fat levels... in induction try to keep near the following percentages: 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs.

                Like Lamby Pie says... weight fluctuations are very normal.
                Keep at it and you'll see the results for sure!

                  Your menu's do seem quite perfect....indeed do also take your measurements.
                  What you could do is try to use Fitday.com to check if your balances are right (5%carbs,30% protein,65% fat)
                  What also sometimes happens is that your body needs to adjust to the weight you lost and then al of a sudden it starts losing again.
                  Indeed if this is only going on since just a week or so I would definitely not worry about it and just go on doing what you're doing.
                  Really try to make sure you do drink your water, that's very important.
