Ooh creapy, I didn't think of that. I've been eating 1 - 2 cans of albacore a day... Is that too much????

try switching your diet around a bit then, why not have some egg salad or an omlette for your protein? eggs are good protein and shouldn't be too hard on your stomach? or maybe try making a homemade soup with chicken broth, veggies and chicken maybe that will be easier on your stomach. or try quiches, there are tons of variations.

Is there a reason why you only want to eat tuna/salmon? i would try new foods. Red meats also have alot of nutrient's your body needs so it's a good idea to include them too. This will also help from getting stuck in a food rut. I'm assuming since you eat bacon you are not a vegetarian.

I know the canadian gov't issued a statement a couple of weeks ago regarding mercury, and warning people about eating too much tuna, but some people say there is nothing to worry about.
here is what i could find from the US EPA on tuna guidelines.

        http://www.epa.gov/waterscience/fishadvice/advice.html

2004 EPA and FDA Advice for:
        • Women Who Might Become Pregnant
        • Women Who are Pregnant
        • Nursing Mothers
        • Young Children
Print Version (PDF, 2 pages, 235 Kb)

        Additional Translations:
Fish and shellfish are an important part of a healthy diet. Fish and shellfish contain high-quality protein and other essential nutrients, are low in saturated fat, and contain omega-3 fatty acids. A well-balanced diet that includes a variety of fish and shellfish can contribute to heart health and children's proper growth and development. So, women and young children in particular should include fish or shellfish in their diets due to the many nutritional benefits.

However, nearly all fish and shellfish contain traces of mercury. For most people, the risk from mercury by eating fish and shellfish is not a health concern. Yet, some fish and shellfish contain higher levels of mercury that may harm an unborn baby or young child's developing nervous system. The risks from mercury in fish and shellfish depend on the amount of fish and shellfish eaten and the levels of mercury in the fish and shellfish. Therefore, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are advising women who may become pregnant, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young children to avoid some types of fish and eat fish and shellfish that are lower in mercury.

By following these 3 recommendations for selecting and eating fish or shellfish, women and young children will receive the benefits of eating fish and shellfish and be confident that they have reduced their exposure to the harmful effects of mercury.
        1. Do not eat Shark, Swordfish, King Mackerel, or Tilefish because they contain high levels of mercury.
        2. Eat up to 12 ounces (2 average meals) a week of a variety of fish and shellfish that are lower in mercury.
          • Five of the most commonly eaten fish that are low in mercury are shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, and catfish.
          • Another commonly eaten fish, albacore ("white") tuna has more mercury than canned light tuna. So, when choosing your two meals of fish and shellfish, you may eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) of albacore tuna per week.
        3. Check local advisories about the safety of fish caught by family and friends in your local lakes, rivers, and coastal areas. If no advice is available, eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) per week of fish you catch from local waters, but don't consume any other fish during that week.
Follow these same recommendations when feeding fish and shellfish to your young child, but serve smaller portions.
personally I think everything in moderation. I don't think it's reason to worry but i only eat it once a week maybe. I would definately be researching it more if i was eating it twice a day.

It sounds to me you are having low Blood sugars, combined with induction flu, try getting some veggies in to get your carb level up that should take the shakes away.. My dietician suggested I drink a small glass of Orange Juice to get mine back up but I aint too sure about that one.
I agree with the others maybe the fish just didnt agree with you.
          Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Vomiting and shakes - Please advise me!!!

Hey, no no reason at all why I am eating a lot of fish...think it just worked out that way as the first day I startged on it (tuesday this week) i ate Chicken Salads and veg all day and was fine!

I know for a fact Orange Juice is a good pick me up for low blood sugars and I used to suffer from PCOS so my insulin levels were all over the place due to the glucose intolerance that can bring, but, apparently I no longer have it, but I do stil suffer with the shakes when I get hungry.

My bloods were all tested only a month or so ago, for Diabetes, Thyroid etc and all were ok apart from one called ESR (but that is nothing major I am told!)

I am going to switch my foods around and see if that helps me out as I really do want to stick with it!!

            Thanks for responding guys.

But on the veggies front...last night I had a huge plate of carrots and broccoli with my fish and today I prepared the same agian as it was so tasty, but havent got round to eating it yet as still feel nauseous but better!!
Carrots are not legal for induction--they are a OWL Rung 8 food (starchy veggies). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

I hope that you feel better soon bridget! Try switching up your foods like others have suggested. You might be finding out that your body is sensitive or allergic to foods that you didn't even know about.

Re: Vomiting and shakes - Please advise me!!!

Albacore has high mercury of the different kinds of tuna. It is suposedly because it is a larger fish, and that causes it to store more mercury away.

Yellowfin is also high. It came out recently that yellowfin is often packaged as chunk light, and this caused a bunch of commotion as chunk light has been reported as being low mercury. (Was a pain for me as I had stocked up on yellowfin, despite prefering the taste of albacore.)

Skipjack is the lowest, and is actually quite low. It is also the smallest of the three, which is supposed to be why. Some brands near me will lable their chunk light "skipjack" or "yellowfin". Untile the above news about mercury became really popular, skipjack was the cheapest... now yellowfin's price is much lower.

Clover leaf lables whether their chunk light is skipjack or yellowfin. I'm not sure what other brands do.

Some other fish, like salmon and tilapia (yum!) are better, but skipjack tuna is still pretty good as mercury goes.

Here's more on mercury in fish:

Well I'm on day 10 and I'm feeling a bit nauseated and aslo getting to the point where nothing sounds good to me. I know I'm eating, but when I do eat it's because I know I have too. Not to mention I've only lost a couple pounds. Is this normal? How long before I really start to notice the scale moving?

                      Thanks,
