Ok... I wasn't going to admit this, but.... lol

I have a chocolate mint candle that smells good enough to eat. When I'm having a chocolate craving AND every night before I go to bed, I open that and smell. And it satisfies my want for chocolate!

        Ya know, simple...

You can have excuses, or results you can't have both.

I choose results. Not excuses and consequences.

Plain and simple as that. (Thank you Joy)

I used to get the sugar free chocolate bars at Trader Joes. When I really had a craving I would break off one small square so one bar would last me quite a while. I thought the chocolate itself was not a problem???? Is it a bean?

              Re: Sick of being strong.

If you resist temptation, think of how proud of yourself you'll be? Everyone has temptations, so you're not alone (as you can tell by the support from other members). But you have come so far.

Good habits result from resisting temptation.

There is not any memory with less satisfaction than the memory of some temptation we resisted.

It is possible to fail in many ways, while it is possible to succeed in only one way.

I hope that will be me some day.

                      Re: Sick of being strong.

I had that same moment too...what I did was buy myself a box of the russel stover sugar free chocolates (I allow myself to have chocolate, but only the sugar free or deep dark chocolate. I never ever buy real sugar stuff). I ate too many of them...they have malitol. And I paid. OH GOD DID I PAY. Two thoughts...I never binged like that again so maybe that might be a good strategy for you, unless you know that GOD AWFUL PAIN won't keep you from chocolate like it does me.

Or if you are one of those people that one taste will have you spiraling out of control, here's a better thought...get some cream cheese, soften it, dump a bunch of splenda in it, and some coca powder. Instant chocolate fix, atkins approved.

                      Just some thoughts...

Wow, thank you all so much for your support..every one of you had valid opinions.thank you.
I guess for me as i have been doing this for 3 months and only lost 6 kilos,it has been hard because if you lose alot of weight like most of you, you get to see the difference. When you start at 118 kg, 6 kilos doesnt really show so its like hard work and no visual benefits. However this isnt a choice for me and its a lifestyle i need so regardless of how sad it is to lose weight so slowly i dont have a choice.
However as I am an honest person i am going to be honest and tell you i broke down last night and had some foods i had been craving and missing..ie chocolate and cookies dunked in a cup of coffee.I have kids living with me so those foods are always in my house.Anyway the amazing thing is even though i had food i normally would have loved they didnt taste as good as i remembered..they still were good, but really really sweet. The other good thing was i was really happy to go back to eating the atkins way..I thought i would go on a rampage and stop the diet but i woke up this morning really looking forward to my usual foods.Thats a first with me. Normally if i bust a diet i often give up and enjoy the foods i have cheated with.I really feel satisfied and strong again and ready to work hard if not harder at my weight loss with atkins.

                        thanks again

                            Re: Sick of being strong.

Hey Jacqui, i myself have strayed this week and let me tell yah, when you are stalled or not losing weight as fast as you would like it is sooooo tempting and sometimes the fact that you will cave in to those old feelings and foods. Lets just sum this up and put it in perspective. First of all it is great that you are back on plan, but be aware that once you start cheating it is harder to say no the next time. Believe me this is from experience. Secondly, you are not eating as much of this as you did pre Atkins, so don't worry about the cheat, just stay away from things that trigger you. My dh brings pizza home for our kids all the time and this is a major weakness for me, so I make the kids put the leftovers away as soon as they have taken what they are going to at. I hate cold pizza, so it isn't a temptation for me. But f it is hot, whatch your fingers! Also I have been known to have a cheat item in my hand and change my mind while it is on route to my mouth. When this happened tonight I took the pia slice and threw it in the dish water in the sink. My dh thought I was nuts, but I didn't eat the pizza si it kept me on plan. I have also been known to put a ton of salt on a left over piece of apple pie that my MIL brought to our home for my kids and to also throw things into the garden to make it uneatable. It may seem rash or wierd, but it has worked for me. The key is as soon as you feel the doubt as to wether you should or shouldn't eat a thing, ruin it and make it unappetizing. Anyways, hope you get over the cravings, or at least learn how to manage them.

after almost 5 months on Atkins and over 63 lbs down! Watch for updates!

Well done hubbys girl...your tactics are great...destroying the food is a great idea..lol..i love cold or hot pizza and like you it is hard when you have others eating normal food. I think to be honest that my taste buds were fed up with the ongoing induction i have done for the last three months and needed a jump start. Its had it and its fine to continue with ongoing induction.
Poohbear84 that sounds divine but we cant get all the things you guys have in the states here in australia.I think i saw someone using sugar free maple syrup...no such luck here..never mind i am glad you have something like sugar free toffee squares to fall back on in desperate times
