What's going on in here? This thread is getting a lot of "action".

And now with my Administator hat on!

If these so called "smart remarks" don't stop fairly soon I will have no choice but to close the thread.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

        Re: Disbelief of Atkins

You're totally right. So many are just ignorant of the facts of how this diet works and what you'll be eating down the road.

I saw a dietician yesterday. She tried to get some of her points in that going without certain foods forever just isn't good for you. Well, sure, except there's only a very few we're giving up for good and that's the very nasty stuff that really got us fat and unhealthy in the first place. Some are only temporary, like fruits and some grains. She thinks once I'm close to or reached my goal, I should flip the food pyramid back to what they recommend.

I don't THINK so! There's no way I'm going to take in that much in carbs again. For Pete's sake, it's eating the way they recommended that got me so fat in the first place!

As for kidney failures and all, how do they know the kidneys aren't already trashed and weakened before someone begins Atkin? With all the garbage that has been in processed food for the last 30+ years, you can't tell me that kidneys haven't already taken a hit before we even started this diet. Now it appears that the same contaminated wheat products that are making our pets' kidneys fail might also be in human food. I'll tell you what, even if I didn't have to lose weight, I'd go on Atkins simply to avoid the garbage in processed foods! Thankful to God that I've avoided so much of that stuff for some time and that I'm on Atkins now!

I'm not sure if any of us making remarks in this thread are Doctors; certainly no one has claimed to be one - but perchance it wouldn't hurt C.E. to consult one...

If I were to compare the attitude I'm picking up here to that of an Alkie in denial at a court-ordered AA meeting, I'd just say, see ya back later... LOL

I learned the hard way doing Atkins way back, more than once, in-between episodes of gaining weight and trying every other weight-loss method I came across. To little avail than quick temporary weight loss. Sur those other diets work...

Good luck, C.E. "keep coming back"
This one works a LOT better for me!
