  • This diet is disgusting!!

    I woke up on day 4 of induction this morning feeling fatter, unhealthier, dizzy and craving for healthy foods such as fruit and muesli, oats, milk and other such good wholesome food.

    I stuck it out till midday when I had a FRIED chicken salad - only 3 hours after the huge greasy fry up I had of 2 eggs bacon sausage mushrooms - a breakfast I would only ever serve up to others in my family. I have always hated fry ups!!
    Or anything else that was fatty or greasy for that matter.

    This diet is not for me - and each to there own I hear you say - but it has got to be the most unhealthy diet that lacks nutrition and goodness. I can hear you all saying that you take supplements - well surely that goes to prove how unhealthy it really is that you have to take goodness and nutrition in the form of pills.

    I havn't had a poo in 5 days- how healthy is that and YES I did drink all of the required amount of water if not more. I feel bloated and disgusting.

    I am 5ft 2in and weigh 125 lb and would really like to loose 10 - 15 lbs before I get married in July which is why I have tried this diet. I chose it for quick results and nothing else. I eat relatively healthy usually but since I have turned 40 it gets harder and harder and I can't seem to shift those few pounds. But I can't carry on eating nothing but lard and dead animals - I think I would rather be fat.

    I so sorry you were hoping for a quick fix, my friend, in this way of eating for life to lose 10-15 pounds on your 5'2 frame and weighing in at 125 pounds.

    Atkins is not a quick fix to lose weight, and when done the proper way by following the rules of Induction (that includes veggies, and doesn't mean you have to fry everything) and OWL rungs, as well as not giving in to head or emotional hunger, a person who is overweight can/will lose the weight for a healthier life style. For folks who have consitpation or the opposite, there is fiber in the diet or fiber you can add with water and exercise to help relieve the process.

    Again, I'm sorry to hear you weren't able to give yourself and this way of eating for life a chance to help detox your body and cleanse your system.

        well.................i have never been HEALTHIER in my life! blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, exercise, water........and i eat more veggies than i have ever eaten in my life...no garbage and funny....i don't fry ANYTHING!

        SOMEONE must not have read the book.......

          I did read the book years ago when I did the diet first time round and it did work I lost quite a few pounds in the first 14 days - there is no doubt that this diet works - it is scientific of course it works but so do other diets that incorporate good nutritious foods. We are all different - when I blew the diet this afternoon I didn't reach for a chocolate bar or chips or a sandwich - I ate a lovely bowl of fruit and yoghurt. I didn't say that you were not healthy "Misplaced Southerner" but you do have a lot more weight to lose than myself so therefore you perhaps need to be more in control of your diet.

              Jo--Along with my MANDATORY 3 cups of veggies, I eat fruit every single day on Atkins. I rarely fry anything, as I usually eat grilled chicken and turkey breast. I also eat yogurt, beans, nuts, whole grain bread, oatmeal, and drink wine. In fact, I think I eat every single HEALTHY food except for white flour, white sugar, and white rice. Atkins is more than induction.

              And just a question. If you hate the "diet" so much, why are you still hanging around this Bulletin Board?

                if followed properly, you will eat fruit and yogurt, tons of veggies, lots of water and even whole grain foods...that is a very healthy and well rounded diet. you are right. not all diets work for every person. i found that eliminating sugar and "white food" works best for my body.

                i have complete control over my diet. i am also 5 inches taller than you are. we are all here to support each other in what we are doing....not criticize each others flaws. i was simply pointing out that if you read and really understood the book, you would know that it is not a diet of fried food, lard and animals.

                  Each to their own, but it can be a bit aggravating to annouce that the diet is disgusting on a site dedicated to the diet.

                  As people have said above not everything needs to be knee deep in grease. But of course, no diet will suit everyone.

                  Also I have yogurt and fruit for breakfast nearly everyday - you do get to replace back a lot of foods that people traditionally associate more with health.

                  Good luck with your weight loss on other plans and with your wedding.

                    Fried Chicken salad? Was this breaded chicken? If so, it's not allowed on Atkins.

                    Have you been eating 3 cups of veggies, drinking water?

                    This diet isn't all about bacon, cheese and fried foods.

                    Good luck to you, but in all honestly, it doesn't sound like you gave Atkins a fair shot. It's not a crash diet. You said you tried it for a quick fix. That doesn't sound healthy to me. The 14 day induction only lasts two weeks, and then guess what? Rung 2 is dairy, so you could have had some milk when you got that rung. And when you get to grains, you could have had oats and musili. Oh, and fruit wasn't very far off either. But either way, good luck

                      Hi Jo sorry Atkins didn't work out for you this time,

                      I do have to wonder about your statement "it is scientific of course it works but so do other diets that incorporate good nutritious foods." I'm wondering what nutritious foods you are talking about as, in the long run, pretty much the only thing we don't get on Atkins are refined sugars, and refined grains like white rice and white breads. Things that, as far as I know, you won't find much of in any other diet. Everything else IS part of this way of life.

                      But as you said to each their own. Best of luck on the wedding and the weight loss and please be assured that if you ever decide to come back again we will welcome you with open arms.

                        Good luck to ya. No need to bash others who are having success with this WOE, it's not fair to them.....and FYI I don't eat fried things, I eat more veggies now than ever, fruit every day and have never felt better in my life.

                              Sorry you seem to be having a rotten day. The one thing I like so much about this board is that it's all about supporting each other.
                              I'm sure you're just feeling frustrated and needing to vent, so I hope you'll read what the others here have said about what a great way of eating Atkins is. Personally I've never felt better and that goes for my mental state as well...seems to be keeping me on an even keel.

                              It'd be really nice if you'd reconsider your decision to be outta here....I see that you're not...you're still here reading.
