    Re: Sugar-Free Starbucks?!

This is what I order when I want a treat, and is still low carb.
GRANDE, Decaf, sugar free vanilla, heavy whipping cream latte'

Ingredients - coffee, sugar free syrup ( they sell this too, its pretty good ), heavy cream. Thats it. Sometimes you have to watch and make sure they don't use whipped TOPPING instead of the heavy cream...

      Hi all,

After reading your messages I thought I would go on a hunt for the starbucks nutritional figures. I live in the UK but would imagine that the numbers would be pretty much the same anywhere in the world as it's a franchise using the same methods. Hope this link helps you all

It's in PDF format so you will need adobe reader to view it

But it made me sick almost instantly, so I do NOT think it was low-carb at all... My stomach hurt so bad and I had to run to the potty! (sorry for TMI!) Yeah, won't be doing Starbucks anytime again soon.
I am a Starbucks devotee. I've studied their websites and tried their drinks. The short answer is this: All the fancy drinks are bad. Not a little bad - colossally bad. Sugar-Free, Schmooger-Free - It's a disaster. There's sugar hidden everywhere in the fancy drinks.

So...you want to be safe? Here are my recommendations (all come in decaf or regular).

        Drink Espresso. - 0 grams.
        Black Coffee of course.
Iced coffee or espresso (Iced Americano).

Those are obvious. If you want to try something else low carb, go with:

Doppio Macchiatto. Not to be confused with the dreaded Carmel Macchiatto - this is two shots of espresso with foam on top. If you pick up the cup and it feels "heavy" it means an inexperienced barrista poured in milk. You just want foam.

Doppio Conpanna - one of my favorites. This is two shots of espresso w/whipped cream on top. OK - but here's where to worry. The nice barrista will layer, layer, layer too much whipped on top. They typically put a vanilla shot on the whipped. So....too much of a good thing. Tell them you want "one or two turns" on it. Then you have a pretty low carb coffee drink.

Finally - I personally love their unsweetened, iced green tea. It's a winner. Get that or a hot zen. Zero carbs and you get to hang out w/your friends.

        My two cents....

          Re: Sugar-Free Starbucks?!

          Hello All,

Last week I was with a friend who wanted to goto Starbucks. I had to make a snap decision about which drink to have, so I ordered an espresso. My logic being it was the drink that Starbucks could mess around with the least.

I am clueless about coffee, but just looking at the Starbucks menu, shouted Sugar, Sugar, Sugar.

Today, looking at pixiexoxo link to Starbucks nutritional figures, the espresso has 1 or 2 carbs if a double, and no sugar.

Maybe my drink choice was okay, and Atkins safe.

I would not really goto Starbucks on my own, or out of choice. However sometimes needs must.

I also have to agree with sillygirl, you'd think that Starbucks would have made at least a token gesture toward the low-carb lifestyle.

Traditional coffee was drank while eating donuts, and even the Krispy Kreme donuts franchise profits are massively down, due to more and more people following a low-carb diet.
