    Re: Impact Carbs?

I eat the Morning bars 3-5 times a week and am losing about 2 pounds per week so far...does that mean that I would lose even more if I cut out the bars??? I know they aren't the ideal food, but I would think they are better than other higher carb options....Or no breakfast at all....

The one problem I see apart from the known fact that many people ARE stalled by them is that they all contain non-induction ingredients, so are not allowed on induciton if you are trying to follow Dr Atkins rules in DANDR 2002.

I would suggest waiting till you are in the proper stage of Atkins (OWL) where the ingredients are allowed before including them as a part of your food intake.

The only way to find out if they are spoiling your weightloss chances would be to stop eating them and see what happens!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

You know I was confused by a statement in the book... It suggested a bar or shake as a way to control hunger while on induction...
page-147 lines 21 and 22. Quote..."or a convenient controlled carbohydrate bar or shake."

So are they ok or not?

                Re: Impact Carbs?

My take on that is that Dr Atkins meant that within the rules of whichever phase of Atkins we are in!!
                4. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.
soya is a legume so anything containing it is NOT an induction-legal food
                5. Eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list. And that means absolutely nothing! Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of failure during this phase of Atkins.
                and later in Chapter 19
There are also controlled carb chocolate bars (appropriate only after Induction) that serve when only chocolate will satisfy your cravings
So once we have reached the OWL rung/level in which ALL the ingredients of the bar or shakes are allowed we can chose to use them.

Give your body the best chance to lose the weight you want to by sticking to the rules!!

Bear in mind that when the book was written the Atkins products were very different to what is available today, so they are not the same products that he was writing about
